I am sure this was a good children's book but as a short, I wondered, WHY? It did not warrant the money or talent involved. What a waste.

I agree. There's nothing wrong with it, but it just brings nothing unique or special to the table. I saw this with the Oscar nominated shorts and it just pales in comparison in every way. It becomes a tedious bore. Granted I am not familiar with the book, but I have to imagine it's more fun and playful when spoken aloud in the home than it is in this short film. Felt the same way about the previous short film.
A perfectly respectable effort, just seems bloated and by the numbers.
I feel that they go against the spirit of the short animated films. The nominated ones are usually silent and use a form of animation that's different than most convential means. Plus, this one was the length of a sitcom.
