How much of this is actually claimed to be factual?

I watched this film recently and thought it was quite well written and acted. Having researched a bit I am sceptical as to how much is meant to be fictional and how much is supposed to accurately represent the relationship between Tippi and Hitchcock. I've already seen the real screen test Tippi did on youtube, and even that's made to appear more menacing in "The Girl" than it was in real life, so I wonder what else has been exaggerated. Does Tippi actually claim that in real life Hitchcock forced himself on her and pressured her to be "sexually available" to him? All I've seen her say when interviewed about it is that she believed he was obsessed with her because of the way he looked at her while filming.

Just happened to see it on HBO and it says it's a fictionalized account. Meaning it's made up. They probably just took the theory of Hitchcock being obsessed and wrote a movie about it.

Most of the material in 'The Girl' is based on Donald Spoto's 1983 book 'The Dark Side of a Genius'. He interviewed Tippi Hedron in depth.

According to Hedron, Hitchcock was extremely possessive of her, made many unwanted sexual advances, isolated her from her friends and family, and essentially making her life a living hell during the filming of 'The Birds' and 'Marnie'.

Given the attitudes of the early 1960s, I have no problem believing Hedron's accounts.

Hitchcock fans don't want to hear it.

Do they took the theory and made a movie of it.... just like I said.
