The ending

Wtf with the ending, a priest shooting a police officer over a murderer, that crook deserved what he was gonna get.

reply

I thought Julian should not have shot at the policeman as well.

I did not get the ending, I mean, did Nicolas get back to that place after the monastery?

reply

Yes, at the end Nicolas takes the position of Julian.

"Cowards die many times before their deaths, the valiant never taste of death but once"

reply

Yeah, I didn't care for the final 15 min. There is really no progression in the story. I was a little disappointed in the movie.

reply

The crook, Esteban, deserved a trial. Not the summary justice of a police officer intent on revenge. Julian had nothing to lose he was dying anyway but he wanted to save Esteban in every possible way. One can but imagine that Esteban was a surrogate son or represented someone in Julian's past.
