Are there that many working actors in the right age bracket who AREN'T attractive, though?! The less attractive actors mostly tend to be character actors, and you won't find many teen and twenty something character actors, because they don't have enough experience... Acting is an industry with a greater preponderance of good-looking people than other professions, so that has to be contended with...
In the film, the character of Marc speaks about insecurity regarding his looks, and - while not ugly - the actor who played him wasn't the traditional 'hunk' type... I think it was the same to a lesser extent with the girls, as well; by ordinary standards they're very pretty, but in Hollywood terms, perhaps they weren't quite so high-end...

Agreed. This was a terrible movie but this aspect didn't make it so.
