not one dog in this movie

I watched this movie with my son, who has been watching Air Bud type movies. We kept waiting for some dogs to show up, but none ever did. The name Derby Dogs along with the poster showing a dog in the go-kart with the boy is baffling. I checked out the IMDB page to discover the movie even has the tagline "Take a bite out of the competition".

Could someone please explain why this movie is marketed as a dog movie when there is not one dog in it? How does this even happen?

That's very interesting. I'd like to know the answer to tht as well. It seems like they might have used another (failed?)film's publicity account.
The question is, why?

Ah! Now we see the violence endemic in the system!

I just assumed that 'Derby Dog' was a name used in New Zealand to refer to people who participate in the trolley derby -- I wasn't disappointed that the movie "Slumdog Millionaire" wasn't about dogs either. The DVD cover was probably composed by the distributor's marketing staff who had never watched the movie.

I did check out www.facebook.com/KiwiFlyerTheMovie on the web, but 'Derby Dogs' and 'Kiwi Flyer' appear in the heading of every entry, so it's not reasonable to search on 'derby dog' to find the first reference in the text of the entries. I was interested in the dates of the film shoot (8/19/2011 to 9/15/2011) which I found by working down to the earlier entries.
