Assylum

The true whores of movie making... Just had to get it off my chest. FU Asylum.

reply

The very second I read the movie title and saw the cover, I was pretty sure it was a movie made by Asylum.

reply

Me2 - there's no other company that would even do anything similar to these ripoffs.

When it sounds like Asylum - it sure is Asylum.

reply

By no means have I written a screenplay, but I used to dabble in creative writing. Sometimes I think I can write better than writers for Asylum.

reply

the business concept is not to make good movies for cheap but to rip off people who are gullible enough to fall for the title trick. and it is a very suxxessfull one. so without trying to flatter you, your two lines above are prolly better material than they ever produced in anything.

Every time a big Hollywood film is coming out they already have their copy waiting and ready but the title is just a tiny bit different, but you know I've enjoyed quite a few of their films, there used to be a Movie company named Maverick now that sh!t was bad to the max!! Blockbuster used to carry their movies back in the day & me being a horror junkie just had to rent em at $5 bucks a pop no less thank god those days are long behind!!!

I wounder why Aslylum havent maket a copy of Starwars yet, they could call the movie The war in the stars, and the hero Lucas starwalker. :-)

reply

I don't think they have the balls for that, also they never touched Lord of the Rings films either, Someone has brains there, too bad they are the dolphin in the shark tank of creative thinking there.

Your probably right, :-)

reply

I think they could get away with a Lord Of The Rings mockbuster. Then again E.I. Independent Cinema already made a rather amusing one...

Still I'd like to see an Asylum one.

Do you mean The Hunt for Gollum (2009) that was an interesting tease at only 38 minutes but I enjoyed it.

Actually, I think they did have a movie with 'Hobbit' in the title. "Clash of the Empires" was their movie, which was originally called "Age of the Hobbits" until Asylum was sued, prompting a name change.

It was fun watching it just for the title, until I realized it ripped off captain America, then it was funnier. Good times lol

Same here. I just saw the title and knew.

Worst thing is, now a COMPETENT movie maker can't use the material...FU Asylum, indeed

reply

Strangely, and in an ironic twist, the Asylum have been coping the whole concept from any number of back lot American film makers that went before them :)

Besides which Hollywood itself is well known for ripping off foreign films at a rapid pace ... of course that's different right?

Is there actually a good Asylum movie?

Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus is pretty fantastic. So is Mega Python vs. Gatoroid

I know somebody did a "Lord of the Rings" knock off because I was standing by the 5 dollar DVD bin and Wal-Mart one day when some poor fool dug it out and proclaimed "Lord of the Rings" for 5 dollars and I could see from where I was standing that it was some knock off. I almost pointed it out to them but decided to let them find out for themselves. They won't learn anything unless you let them make the mistake. :)

reply

I've seen some good Asylum films but apparently not good enough for me to remember the names.
