The Rope

Look, lots of folks make movies on huge budgets, few can make art with little or a very small budget, like Val Lewton. The think that ticks me off with Asylum pics is that they don't even try. They consistently aim for the lowest common denominator, and hit it. Case in point. When Lucas is descending down the cave the rope they use is ridiculous, looks like it would work ok as a clothesline, not support a man. How much would it have cost to do this correct? A couple bucks maybe.

But they have to poor all that money into their wonderful, cutting edge, CGI. ;)

You're actually wrong about this. Looks to be a standard climbing rope. You could lower a Buick with it.

It is definitely not 100 feet long though when the guy is flaking it out.

It was obvious that they shot actors walking slowly backward on a flat ground, then turned it to look to be a climbing-down scene.
I completely forgot what rope was there, I was too busy laughing.
