I like the show, and think Anthony does a good job at getting important things through people's heads. Who knows what truly sticks when the show leaves, but they do a great job of helping (sometimes undeserving, but normally grateful) people. But I have to hope that most of his queen dramatics are just for show. I worry in the back of my mind about him being abusive to animals, and anyone "weaker" than him. I really hope it is all for television, and that he isn't really such a littl b*tch in living color.
Assuming all of that is false, I do like him...Aside from his destruction of people's property lol. He has a lot of charisma, and he and I have a similar attention to cleanliness and organization details. It could be also, given his characteristic's and also lofty successes (which is Not a negative, necessarily),that he may have a bit of a psychopathic personality. They are really much more common than people think, (about 1 in 100 roughly) and are in job related situatons such as Anthony. Anyway I am obviously speculating about all of this, just interesting looking at things from another view point.
And last thing..He REALLY TRULY NEEDS to wear At Least gloves, and really a face mask as well when he is rustling up all the nast. Scratching off bacteria laden crap, and shaking dust off plants etc He must have fungus galore in his body, and underneath his fingernails.. and probably much worse. He could easily have Hepatitis. I don't understand why he doesn't, and set's such a poor example.
My thoughts, Anthony is coming into a hotel and just like you or me, we aren't wearing gloves and masks. What he finds is what a lot of us miss. I've never ripped apart bed linen to see what the mattress is like underneath. I trust the housekeepers are doing their jobs cleaning toilets etc for my comfort. Hotels and B&Bs I've stayed at have been good to excellent thanks to TripAdvisor. I have issues with rentals though because they are owned by individuals and sometimes you don't get the cleanest of apartments or better maintained. They are just an investment without feelings and it shows.
Nah. He's probably SICK to death of the same old crap that shouldn't happen. He knows that people can be lazy yet, time after time, he hears and sees the same old thing. That would get annoying after awhile and, obviously, makes for interesting TV.
When you think about it, he throws his fits when he sees negligence. When there's no care about safety, especially. I think it comes from a sense of duty, concern for another human. I think it comes from a good place. He cares about what happens to those who stay in hotels.
I think he smashed things to vent and because he deems it broken/worthless that destroying it is not much difference.
He does seem rageful, but we should note that we're not seeing all of Anthony. We're seeing Anthony when faced with negligence for hotel guests that is insulting and disrespectful.
That aside, when it comes to other issues, like leaving the front desk money easily accessible in the Evergreen Inn episode, he does do a little show about it. Yeah, it's dramatic, but it is entertaining.
He's more of a tough-love kind of person. He'll bark and scold, but it comes from a good place.
I don't think he's rageful. For instance, in a recent episode, he found out a woman had had a recent stroke. He immediately changed his tune and went compassionate. No "cooling off" necessary. It was a show for not only tv, but to motivate.
He breaks things, I believe, once again because it's good tv, and also they KNOW at that point they're going to replace those parts, and give them much, much more. I wouldn't be surprised if the show gets permission first. This is unscripted tv, not really reality tv.
I'm with you! Anthony vents his spleen at the lazy, negligent and clueless owners of these establishments but I've never, ever seen him harm an animal.
He only vents to people who deserve it. Kind of the Dexter of Hotel inspectors, without the killing part.
I now check into a hotel and immediately check for bed bugs. No matter how clean the room is, you don't know who was there before you were and what they brought to the party.
Anthony missed the perfect opportunity to throw a tantrum on tonight's "Hooligans" episode...
After setting off the fake fire/smoke; he and the owner walked right past the folding beds in the fire-exit hallway that he had told her (minutes, hours, days..? earlier) to get out of there.
