The fakery continues...

Ricky Bobby pulls $50k in diamond rings from a trash unit.
Where does he get them appraised? His mother's jewelery store....

reply

All the items they find in those units that stick out are plants by the show's producers. They showcase unusual historic items to spark the public's interest in antiques. It's like a little history lesson. Every time they show a plain storage unit with normal stuff in it, there's always some oddball piece of historical memorabilia or fine art just magically tucked away. It's fake. The whole show is set up that way.

reply

That is a plausible explanation. Too bad it's not backed up by even a scintilla of evidence. There are plenty of eps where nothing great is found and apparently even more auctions filmed where they found nothing at all.

Totally agree!
As far as some units not being great, or having nothing but junk. They have to have a few "real" ones, or they would be as fake as Storage Hunters.

reply

Yeah, they did it again last night. There amongst all the old greeting cards that they told Roy to go through, he plucks an old badge from the trash bag he was holding because he "heard" something. TA DA!!
They now have something to take to an appraiser for the rest of the episode!

Not every unit needs to yield $50k in jewels.

reply

I don't think it is fake. If you looked through all of my crap, or anyone's for that matter, there would be at least one interesting thing that you would probably want to learn more about. Often when they get items appraised, they end up being worthless. Watch the show or don't, but please don't whine about it.

People don't rent storage units to stall rubbish in, there has to be some value to them. Though I doubt expensive jewelry would be left in there.

Only those with no valid argument pick holes in people's spelling and grammar.
