Jenny can't refinish wood?

I'm really starting to get tired of Jenny's style of revamping furniture. I totally understand the idea of taking really dated 1980's side tables and making them into the little kitchen units as she did, that was creative and made something out of a piece that might not have had a market. What I don't like is that she often gets really nice quality wood piece that have a couple of scratches and instead of simply sanding it down and refinishing the wood, her default idea is always to paint it and distress it.

Seriously, can't this woman spend a couple of bucks on some wood stain? She obviously already has sand paper and a sanding block, but does everything have to be painted up to look like it came out of a Dr. Seuss book? I'm really starting to think her clientele may have more dollars than sense.

I'm so ugly...that's ok 'cause so are you.

I have been a woodworker for over a decade, so I can say, from a profit standpoint it makes sense. Much easier to do her paint and chain distress than spend days stripping and sanding. I would prefer to see wood returned to original ,but its still there under the paint. A lot harder now though.

I'm amazed that you managed to form a complete sentence.

Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks this. Crap to cute? No "Salvageable crap to pure crap" is more like it. 95% of the things she does make it worse.

Mary on the other hand has talent. Taking a whole bunch of old floppy disks and turning it into a screen was clever. That was actually clever. Paining a nice dresser flat grey is not. Must be a girl thing..

Every time she says she's gonna paint something I cringe. And those kitchens were cute but $600 a piece, WTF????

I just watched the episode where she makes a custom bar for a "rich" customer's back yard pool. Horrible workmanship...just like most all of her projects.

I have yet to see her produce a piece of quality work.
