Season 5 *Spoilers

So, we're one episode deep into Season 5. Gerry returns to Xavier after begging Lisa for his job back. Granted, Gerry is now an in-house sub, but he is back with Xavier.

I personally would have liked to see Gerry stick with the inner-city school for a bit. While he is teaching there, he still wants to return to Xavier but Lisa won't budge. Finally, Gerry starts to see progress in the kids he teaches.

As Gerry sees the progression his new students are making, Lisa then finds a substitute role for Gerry back at Xavier. So Gerry has to choose whether or not to continue to make a difference in the inner-city youths lived, or return to the comfort of Xavier. This would happen over the course of a season.

Then Gerry would be good at something, which "they" won't let happen!

I wouldn't want a whole season of Gerry at the inner-city school, but I would have liked to see that storyline played out for at least a couple more episodes. It's obvious that Gerry getting fired and changing schools was a "fake-out" ... the writers wanted to shake things up a little, but they had no intentions to make it last.

I love Mr. D but I feel like this season is a bit weak. I miss Callaghan and I don't like Lisa as the principal. Still ... I definitely prefer Emma over Mr. Leung (so glad he's gone), and I love that new "spawn of Satan himself" little girl Amanda-Susan.
