Rip-off of Michael Scott?

I don't mind this show. It's pretty funny.

However, one thing that really bugs me is that it seems like Gerry Dee seems to be channeling Steve Carrell to an extent that it's almost a blatant rip off of the character of Michael Scott.

Does anyone else sense that?

Love both shows. Well not so much the last season of the Office. But yeah, its the first thing you notice, but oh well, makes me laugh. Love dry humor. Hate laugh tracks.

I suppose that will happen if your television-watching experience is limited. I have seen countless shows, so I just don’t see it as strongly as you do and could easily think of numerous other shows that are a much closer fit.

I have felt that way watching it too.

You mean David Brent from the office?

reply

True, but instead of an office of people he has a class of students.

reply

Yes the entire point of this show is that he is doing a Ricky Gervais/Steve Carell Office character ripoff, but not pulling it off nearly as well so he just comes off as an unlikable tool.

Well I can tell you guys don't watch much Stand up lol

I never really thought of it much (maybe subconsciously) until the last episode. The difference, though, is that while Michael could be a jerk at times, he was still likeable. Gerry Duncan is not. He never redeems himself. Kinda weird how Gerry Dee is purposefully making his character one of the all-time most unlikeable ones. :p
