Nice guy to a-hole in 0.1 seconds

The writing for Daniel's character was funny. He starts off being that typical supportive and generous new boyfriend type. Then after he leaves the girl to get help (which was the right thing to do by the way) and sees a shoe, he becomes a selfish assshole who manhandles people to save his own behind. What's equally funny is the way he's instantly thought of as an assshole by the girl and the mum. He said he was off to get help and it's like it never occurred to either of them he may have died in the process.

....that's why he had to be crushed by a shipping container fires before everyone else dies on the GG bridge after the ship decimates it!

What else do you expect? The guys British. Well to be specific Welsh.

Poor Mr Fantastic. I felt sorry for the poor guy. He just did what everyone else would have.

Ben told Blake he saw Riddick leave after telling someone where she was. Blake subsequently told Emma. They both knew

I was also very surprised by how fast he turned into a complete douche canoe with no warning! He seemed like a such a good guy. Married to the job, but still nice.
He went to get help, like legit get help, but then just walked away. Even after that he wasn't that bad, he may have been in shock, or maybe thought she was dead, but then he actually killed someone to save his own ass, I mean... wow.

I thought that was a bit weird too.
I think the brothers did see him take off, but he did go to get help because she was pinned in the car and everyone acted like he was bad for that. He easily could have died right away (as well as the girl).
Did not expect him to pretty much murder that one guy to hide by the building (he couldn't have just squeezed in?)

hat's equally funny is the way he's instantly thought of as an *beep* by the girl and the mum. He said he was off to get help and it's like it never occurred to either of them he may have died in the process.

But they know he didn't get help. Ben (the British guy) told Blake and later the parents that he left the building and didn't attempt to get help after the security guard died.

The whole movie is like that. The Rock doesn't seem too concerned until he thinks his daughter is dead, and then he suddenly miraculously gains the power to choose who lives or dies. 
