So what is the lesson learned watching this movie?

That wealthy people choose themselves over you in a natural disaster.

Poorly Lived and Poorly Died, Poorly Buried and No One Cried

Read up on stuff like hooking an older phone to a landline, firetruck equipment etc. And go to the gym.

"Need" is just a fiction. As is "should", "must", "value" and "importance".

Getting inside a building (in high point) is useless and dumb, because when it collapse, you have nowhere to run. Getting on a high point like a hill or a mountain is good because nothing'll fall on you if you're at the top of it.

And what matt_shade said is good too. Ground lines will be last way of communication (old phone), find useful equipment (torch, food, water, emergency radio)

Or go to a baseball stadium, because even when the entire city is falling down, a baseball stadium will remain standing and completely undamaged.

I won't even have to look for one... I like old rotary phones and I have one in my kitchen. Love the way the dial goes "whhhirrrr" on long numbers. Never liked the push-button style.

From this movie, I learned that it's completely okay to take emergency equipment off a fire truck and use it for your personal immediate needs, plus take some extra in your pockets for later. The three of them should have been shot as looters.

Don't build cities on major fault lines.

Always follow the 3 As. Nothing can ever kill you as long as you're 1. altruistic 2. attractive, and 3. axperienced.

Your car can flip down a cliff and not only will you not die, you won't even be all that hurt.

Don't pull a gun on The Rock.

You can start a day in L.A., then go by helicopter, car and plane to get to S.F., then by boat to get to downtown, save your daughter and it will still be day.

Natural disasters always bring couples back together.

You can save a spectacularly *beep* disaster movie with spectacular boobs.
