Bristol Palin and Melissa Rivers

This was an interesting episode, I must say. First, why are these two ladies on "wife" swap when neither are married? Moving on...

Though I liked Bristol's idea of scaling back and slowing down, after watching this show, I don't see much motivation from her or Willow. I get that Bristol isn't into fashion but she had the opportunity to do something while on the set, even if behind the cameras. As for Willow, I wished she had been more excited about an opportunity that Melissa put together for her. I can tell she was pretty nervous and if this is her first time doing hair, I could see why. Maybe I am wrong but don't most people who go to cosmetology school already have some experience by practicing on others? Isn't that how you know you want to do hair? Well, that's how I know some of my friends decided to go to school but that's only three people. Clearly that's not a representation of the world!

Anyway, I thought Willow would've at least agreed to another chance in the near future.

Back to my small point, from this show, it seems as if those two Palin girls don't have much motivation to do something with their lives. No, I should say Bristol but they both lack self confidence.

What do you think?

Yeah it shouldve been called Celebrity single mom swap edition. Not only are they not married to the baby daddies, its clear they arent around all that much either.

That said I liked the episode. Bristol gets a lot of crap mainly because of her mom but she does seem nice and more down to earth at least. And yeah its weird you would think since they are both now reality show celebrities they would be pushing for the chance to do more media stuff. Maybe appearing in front of the camera is one thing but the production side is something else.

And lets be more honest these girls probably dont have to worry about money for the rest of their lives. You see the house they were living in? No its not a mansion but its not something two twenty somethings with no real job experience lives in either. Or maybe that was just the parents home? Im not sure but Todd looked like he was just stopping in on one scene so confused. Anyway the Palins have rolled in the dough through the years. Yes mainly through Grizzly mama bear but they all done their share of reality shows, books, speaking engagements, etc so its probably more about not stepping up because they really dont have to. Hell they are on celebrity wife swap. What makes them celebrities at this point?

Anyway no hate just keeping it honest. They seem like nice girls. Too bad the name Palin has such a double edge sword these days.

Rest in peace Roger Ebert! You will be missed.

I know one thing, that little Tripp needs a good spanking. They let him get away with too much.....I don't care if he is just 4 yrs. old. I taught my son how to be respectful to people and also how to behave. Evidently, Bristol and Willow don't really want to be bothered with teaching him anything, so they just give him popsicles to calm him down. Like Melissa said, it's not too late to get a handle on him, but if she doesn't do something soon, by the time he's a teenager he's going to be smacking the hell out of both of them.

I know, I know! Didn't Tripp call Melissa out of her name? I was so embarrassed for Bristol! Anyway, she seems to have very lax parenting skills but I don't think it's fair for Willow to be put in a position to help. Wait, that came out wrong. Willow most definitely should discipline when necessary but I remember Bristol asking for Willow to come and help her. Uh, sorry. That's what happens when you have a baby when you're young. It's not Willow's responsibility! I get the impression Willow does more than she actually wants to which is why she lets the little boy get away with so much. Tripp is Bristol's son and not Willow's. If Willow doesn't want to be bothered (e.g. watch him while she goes out), she shouldn't have to

Well, I've only seen about 50 minutes of their life..

I thought that both Palin girls seemed completely unmotivated to ever work or get a job. Bristol refused to even try to produce Joan's show, and Willow, who claims to have graduated cosmetology school, refuses to even try the job Melissa went out and got for her. I guess it must be nice to live off of a rich mother.
Bristol just seemed like a stick in the mud. And her out-of-control son shows that she is about as motivated to be a good mother as she is motivated to work for a living.

It's sad; she seems more interested in being famous than she is in her son. Britney's younger sister got knocked up when she was young as well, but I do at least respect her for stepping out of the limelight to try to raise her baby correctly. Seems like Bristol is doing the opposite. She is way too selfish to be a good mother right now. And she seems totally oblivious; she should at least be aware that there's a problem here.

I think it may have a lot to do w/the media and how their mother is always the "center of a joke"; I also think they will eventually find something they want to do w/their life. This may have nothing to do w/it but in the past weeks they had Bill Maher (who I can't stand) calling their little brother a retard. I think that was disgusting and that Sarah's children should be off limits, especially a child who was born that way. Bill had a comedian who was suppose to be on his show that night after his "dialogue" but the comedian came out and refused to be on his show, he told Bill no matter how you feel about Sarah Palin, calling her child a "retard" is just not a funny joke; he walked off the set. My son told me about this, he didn't catch the Las Vegas comedian's name but he said the guy was very upset w/Bill's remarks about Sarah's child.

Idddhunter - He has also called Sarah a *beep* and dumb twat. David Letterman has called her (Bristol) a whore. Now I am the first to disagree with the large majority of political ideaology that Sarah (& Bristol) have, but I get extremely angry when a female is called derogatory names for their political beliefs .... (and even worse to call her innocent child who has special needs a derogatory word).

Anyways, after my *rant* on Bill Maher (who I also can't stand), I would like to say that Bristol needs to start enforcing discipline on her son PRONTO. He is only acting that way because Bristol allows him to act that way. He will soon be starting school and needs to know that hitting, cursing, throwing fits, etc. are not going to be tolerated.

I just watched this episode and first I think that Melissa and Joan are doing a great job of raising Cooper. He is going to grow up to be a very educated, hard working young man. We can talk about the Rivers clan for their Fashion Police show but CWS showed their hard work ethic which I find admirable.

On the other hand the Palin clan seemed to be the complete opposite. The girls live in a house that Bristol obtained but it doesn't look like she worked hard to get the money. She's done reality shows and wrote a book which people probably bought just to get dirt on her mother. The girls claim to be down to earth but they also didn't show that they have ANY work ethic. It looked like they were spoiled and only agreed to do something if it was easy and they would be greatly rewarded for it, in the same way that Trip presented on the show.

In regards to Bristol feeling ganged up on it appeared that the "adults" in Joan's social group were just discussing what is normal, your views on politics etc. and if you FEEL confident about your position on the subject (based on your education) then you can hold your own. Bristol is used to being told to be quiet and let her mother fight her battles. The excuse of saying "kill them with kindness" (the defensive approach) even when no one is attacking you must be pretty stressful for her children. Sarah needs to teach them how to socialize in spite of and without the fear of hostility. The girls seemed to be a bit uptight and fearful. I wonder if Sarah gives them a hard time if they say something that goes against her image?

I will say that Melissa and Bristol both seemed to love working with each other's son and in the end the boys gained some positive input from them.

Last but not least I am a huge fan of Joan Rivers. I love her self deprecating sense of humor and think she's probably a decent Mom/Grandmom.

It's been awhile since I saw this show but one thing I do remember clearly is Bristol claiming to be attacked at the gathering when there was nothing but normal conversation going on. I remember thinking that if nothing else, Bristol sure has learned to play the victim very well from her mother. I also remember Bristol being almost childish in refusing to even try producing the show.
