Too bad the adult son couldn't get a job

on his own, instead of working for Daddy. What a pathetic life he chose for himself.

Whatever, he was the head of a sales team on the biggest property in Las Vegas. He got an education thanks to his dad, he seemed competent throughout the documentary, I am sure he could have gotten a job somewhere else, but the family business is exactly that.

I don't see anything despicable in family members trying to build on legacy. you are just a freak.

hark - either you are the son posting here, or you work for your daddy and can't seem to get a job yourself...so my post hit very close to home.

how about building your own legacy instead of pawning off daddy?

reply

It is very possible that the son determined that his best path to fortune and power was through his father's company. That would certainly be a logical decision to make.

You don't have enough info about Hark to make those statements.

I would not want to follow in the father's footsteps because I think he is a sleaze, but if that does not bother the son then he certainly has a large company to work for.

If I had the opportunity to work for a large company that my family had started I would consider it. Giving up money and power just to say you did your own thing is prideful and stupid. The vast majority of people won't ever build a company like this so to avoid being part of it because of false pride is pretty dumb.

Like I said, the reason not be be part of the family company is that it is sleazy.

Definitely not the biggest property in Las Vegas

I thought he was horrible

I felt bad for him. It was obvious he wanted to be like David and stayed around to get any tiny bit of approval from him. I didn't get the impression he really even believed in the time share business. Did you see his wife? Carbon copy of Jackie in her younger years. He was the only one supporting hid dad with his business choices to the very end and David never recognized his contributions in the movie. Their relationship was cold and based only on business. He'd probably be better off going on his own but I think that's his only way to connect to his dad.

There was definitely something odious about him.

I felt sorry for him. He tried so hard and just like Jackie, got NOTHING.

I thought he was a very complex character. It was sad when he talked about his childhood and not knowing his dad but always having nice clothes. Yet, it was jaw-dropping when he said uses the same tactics that bankrupted his grandparents to sell timeshares to "moochers." That seemed heartless.
