Do the producers hate working mums?

They did everything possible to show that Ariana was a bee-yatch and the nanny was (in Becca's words) Mother Theresa. Firstly, nuns hardly ever sleep with other women's husbands, so let's disabuse ourselves of the notion that she was some kind of innocent. Ariana's character was as unsympathetic as it's possible to be, and it seemed to hark back to the fact that she worked for a living. Her own spiteful remark about how unambitious women make the best mothers backs that up. She couldn't even put her own child to bed, and was positively icy in every way. Why didn't they allow her to have some redeeming features? She was in the right, for goodness sake! Love's young dream in the shape of the cheating husband and the floozy nanny were the ones who were wrong.

I agree, I was going to write the same thing. From the very beginning scene this movie lost its appeal to me. There were no sympathetic characters. How could I feel sorry for the nanny Mia when she's having an affair with the husband right in front of the wife's eyes. Worse she was making out with the husband while the son she was hired to watch got hurt. Also, the husband was a bastard, he cheated on his wife, was sleeping with the nanny in their house, and got the nanny pregnant! I was almost hoping for the killers to get the nanny and the hubby too. It didn't help that they made the wife a psychotic workaholic ice queen in an attempt to justify the husband's affair. If the husband didn't love the wife anymore, he should have divorced her, not hook up with the "saintly" help and start a new family right under the wife's nose.

I don't understand your problem. maybe ariana was written to BE a bitch. she was neglectful, self congratulatory and was abusive to ANYONE in her power. even the party planner [you will make your grand entrance at 700] did not escape her wrath.

and she is not a working mom because she HAS to work.. she wants to work. she hates her son, she hates her husband and she hates herself. she will do ANYTHING to get herself away from these people.

and I don't think the nanny was anything but a floozy. remember it takes two to tango. who initiated he affair? we don't know. could have been her, could have been him. I think it was him.

OH THANK YOU GOD! THANK YOU SO BLOODY MUCH!!! Basil Fawlty
