Israeli youths watch and react to the film

Worth taking a few minutes to watch this youtube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYdoS9j2vnA where the film has been screened to Israeli youths, and getting some of their reactions - not just to the film, but to their understanding of the situation in Israel and to the banning of the film by the Israeli Department of Education.

FWIW - I thought this was a brilliant film. I get that it is one side of the argument, and that there are legitimate grievances from Israelis too. But as a document of the way things are perceived by the people in the Palestine village, even if you beleive that their interpretation is flawed, it is a really important tool to help build understanding of the needs of a people which is essential if there is to be any movement towards some sort of resolution.

I do of course have a view on where the balance of misdeeds lies, but I don't think my opinion is relevant to watching the film and getting something valuable from it - much more important is the simple recognition of the way people are, to be able to work with them in a meaningful way based on that understanding towards a common future.

Thanks for the link. It was interesting to hear the students' views on the banning of the film by the government as much as the content of the film. It makes me sad for them that they will have to join the army but they were heartening to hear.

Good point! If only more, or most, people thought this way then solutions rather problems could be the agenda in Israel/Palestine.
Movement ends, intent continues;
Intent ends, spirit continues

I watched 'The GateKeepers' last night, read up on it and ended up here. Thank you for the link: I'm planning on watching 'FBC' later this evening.
We are so weighed down by history that we do indeed seem doomed to repeat it.
The link that you put up gave me a glimmer of hope for humanity that maybe one day we'll find our similarities instead of focussing on our differences and government misdeeds...

Appreciate the link. Very interesting.
I also found film brilliant for reasons you state.
Frankly, your entire post makes perfect sense. Now if both sides could ever come to the table & maybe try to actually listen to each other for mere 5 minutes, how different this conflict might be. How different our world could be. Have logic & reason enter into the picture (don't think it's been pushed out but never allowed to enter at all).
Sadly never going to happen. Unreasonable zealots on both sides. Worse yet, persistently pointing accusatory fingers at one another in every second rather than trying to hear another's voice.
