my take is that after the argument where he said he didn't want to see her, that he wanted more, they separated for a while.
then they missed each other, got back together, and decided to each divorce, and meet up in Chicago in 6 months.
Right, but who knows if they will actually do it. Kind of like the end of Before Sunrise.

If this is the take then why wait six months. They were already betraying there spouse so why be honorable in not seeing each other until the divorces were legal. The ending meant they needed a cooling off period and in 6 months they would see where they were and either continued or stopped it all together.
I did not understand why she was even having an affair seems as if she was not thimking of her husband at all. can you or anyone else say what was there problem.
It is an open ending - whatever we choose. Watching it I was reminded of 'Une liaison pornographique', 1999

I also wondered what was wrong with her character - she seemed to be pretty heartless at times and I felt empathy for Messina's character. Then I remembered they're both lying cheaters.
