He is no longer acting as the AVGN. He is currently acting as James Rolfe dressed up as the AVGN.

i would say .....yes, there's a bit of that, he has lost some of the naturality and raw intensity he had on older episodes
i guess the fame and popularity do have an influence
Its to be expected really. He's a different person today than he was in 2006. He has a child, a wife and has gotten older. He could feign it in and try to act like the AVGN but that would be forced so instead he has mellowed and I dont mind one bit. I prefer YTubers who are natural than those who force down comedy/skits etc.

But the Nerd character should be. It's called acting as in this is not supposed to be your personality it is supposed to be your characters personality. If Arnold Schwarzenegger started growing flowers in real life does that mean he should be doing this in his films? No. share

I've watched 2 reviews pre-AVGN movie and by that time he already didn't feel like the real AVGN any more, it's like he was done with it and couldn't act as AVGN for the audience while still dressing up as him.
But well, for what it's worth he did a marvellous job when he nailed acting and scripting AVGN.

shareYes, I've kind of picked up on this. He tends to review more as James (ala Cinemassacre) than as the actual character but I think he's still showing moments of it from time to time.
