The first film I had to take BREAKS from

At an almost two hour run time, I was initially excited about the abundance of Nerd Adventures I'd be witnessing -- despite being concerned after the lackluster trailer. After leaving and coming back to it at least three times, even as a Nerd fan, I have to say this was the worst movie I saw in 2014 -- even beating out Scary Movie V. Trust me, I GOT what the film was trying to do, but I wasn't entertained by it in the slighest.

There is a plus though: Time Winters, the voice of Zero himself from MGSV, put on a good performance.

This movie only needed to be 90 minutes or less. There's a lot you can achieve in a shorter runtime. Often less is more.

The film had a great premise and some hilarious moments, but it's all tied together with a clunky narrative and poor pacing.

I'd like to see James revist the movie at some point with a fresh perspective and edit it down to a reasonable runtime and more kinetic pace.

There's so much that could be edited down or deleted entirely, like all those nods to the fans, meandering inside jokes, redundant scenes at Area 51, useless exposition, etc.

I too get what James was trying to do, and for me, the film is a guilty pleasure. But I lament that it sags from bad pacing, making it an ordeal to watch even for a loyal fan.
