What Irks Me

Is that the crazies in MOVE kept ranting about Africa this Africa that, they all took Africa as part of their names too. So why didn't they just up and move back to Africa and we would've all been happy.

What are they doing? Why do they come here?
Some kind of instinct, memory, what they used to do.

There welfare and disability benefits as well as the food stamps would of been useless in Africa...

There you go. You just scored a Bulls-eye.

How do you know whether they worked or not? Pretty dumb racist assumption on your part, isn't it?

Very!

I was afraid to come here & look at discussions, hope most aren't like this.

So what's your point activista? Please enlighten us.

That you would ask shows your ignorance for the movement they were trying to start. Namely, they were a socio-religious political movement that eschewed science and modern medicine, believing that a simple hunter-gatherer way of life was better than what we in America currently have.

They changed their named to Africa to show their affiliation to the continent, not their dislike for America. John Africa and his followers - like many radical movements - were trying to change peoples minds. It's hard to do that on another continent.

History is the lie we are willing to accept.

Well, if someone wanted to live that way, then wdf were they doing in the City of Philadelphia? Try going at least to Allegheny National Forest.

Again, like any movement, they were trying to change how people acted. Isolating themselves (whether in a nearby forest or a continent halfway around the world) wouldn't help their cause.

Stoopit freaking jigs

Oh. That's right. That's why you don't know anything...

History is the lie we are willing to accept.

And living in trash & rodent infested craphole & creating an unlivable crap hole in their neighborhood? I think "Jake" has a point-the main thing anchoring them to Philly were the 'gub'ment bennies'....

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

You should probably take my words at face value. I never said what they were doing was "right" or "healthy".

I see no reason to think so.

Hey Nick, wassup?
Actually I have a small connection to them, well my brother. He and his 1st wife, a real hippie left wing activist nutty type, had a house in West Philly not too far from those nutcases. And she was all into their cause, though not part of it obviously. So when I went to visit, she showed me all their literature and said I should go over and listen to them. I really did try to read some of it and did walk over their way to listen to some nut babbling nonsense through a PA and all these speakers they had set up everywhere. Their neighbors, mostly black, really hated them and I quickly surmised these GROW people were plain nutz. My brother agreed with me and his wife yelled at us two, calling us racist and insensitive. Then a couple years later when the whole place got burned out, it didn't surprise me in the least. That was when I learned that all that PC anti-racism screed was just a load of BS to cover up reality.

Interesting; it figgers the hippies would admire them---at a distance.

Ironically, they sold their twin and moved out about a month before the Big Fire

Oh,bull***. So a group of black crazy people made you decide that all anti-racism is fake? How ignorant and close-minded of you. Granted, the MOVE folks should not have antagonized the hell out of their neighbors---but they sure as hell didn't deserve to have a damn bomb dropped on them that destroyed the whole damn neighborhood----something even the then-mayor and police department admitted was a terrible mistake, for the simply reason that it was a last-minute decision that hadn't been thought out properly anyway.

reply

LOL and the mayor then of Philly was black too

Shut up, you racist white supremacist bastard. I recall your other bull**** racist-a** posts. I don't see you complaining about white cult groups that do the same s*** who actually lived in rural area, like those *beep* militia a**holes who got busted back in 2010 for conspiracy to attack the government. Just shut the *beep* up. They had a right to live wherever the *beep* they wanted to live. "Jigs"? *beep* you again, you *beep* racist piece of s***.

reply

Sure, I am just crying my eyes out over Ruby Ridge, that secluded Mormon compound that got busted for impregnating teenage members. & some Aryan Brotherhood types who got busted. I also think Bundy is a loser and a deadbeat too. But I was commenting about this movie, which had nothing to do with any of those type of aforementioned groups. And tell me what exactly was there about these people that was positive for anyone? They seemed like really messed up people with a BS cause. While I agree that Philly messed up big time by burning out the block, these people were a blight

reply

The children were completely innocent, though. And their parents prevented them from escaping out the back like Birdie.

reply

I'm not supporting the actions of the members at all but the welfare statement is absolutely ignorant. That group was completely anti government and anti society. They barely ate food and took over abandon buildings what would they use welfare or food stamps on?

reply

Thank you for pointing that out, because some people are more ignorant about the whole situation. It's a shame that we have to deal with racism in this day in time. Blacks and White's need to unite cause like it or not were Americans and we gone have to protect each other from groups that wanna destroy our way of life like ISIS and the rest of those terrorist pricks.
