Feminism killed this movie...

This was bordering on being an easy 6 out of 10 flick but it was brought down to a messy 5 out of 10 thanks to that annoying, skinny twig of a woman who had no business in the movie.

The annoying cop lady was obnoxious, bothersome, and it was pretty obvious feminism was responsible for her over-the-top empowerment scenes where she magically saved Donnie Yen in one sequence after leaping from high atop a building to pursue a hitman, and then later leaped down from a bridge onto a bus like Spider-Man, only to later play grab-on with the main bad guy's car.

The movie was all over the place and the plot was disjointed and messy, but if all of her over-the-top super heroine scenes were removed so more time could be devoted to the relationship between Andy Oh and Donnie Yen's characters, as well as the double/triple crossing going on with the gangsters, it could have at least tightened up some of the messiness.

That's not to mention her over-the-top wire-fu really didn't mesh well with the rest of the movie's grounded Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing-style fight sequences. We have these more realistic fight scenes with the men and then all of a sudden everything gets airy and ballet-like when she entered the picture.

My enjoyment of the film was thoroughly brought down because of this, and it was smart of Yen to avoid that kind of nonsense in the movies that came out after Special ID.
