Awful ending (spoiler)

I really hated the ending. I enjoyed the movie as a whole (great dialogues, great characters, and great acting) but the ending....

A lot of horror films have jump scare endings that get dismissed in the sequel (i.e., I know what you did the last summer, nightmare on the elm street) and maybe they were imitating it. But really!? I don't mind all of them surviving because I expected that to happen, what with them being real in a world of film and all. But they don't get back to the real world??? I personally thought that was really lame. I think the ending could have been stronger after the emotional moment Max and Nancy shared.

PS
Halloween.... Now that's a horror film with a great ending.

I thought so too, but then someone pointed out that it was a double feature that they were at. So after this movie ended, the sequel supposedly began (in the real world). The only problem I have with this is, if the theater was to burn down wouldn't that cause the movie to stop playing in the real world??

Yeah, the movie really didn't clarify that, ey? They said that the exit was blocked and you just assumed that was the case. But does this mean that everybody else died??? Will they ever be able to get back or did they also perish?

reply

I assumed that to mean that the sequel started in a hospital, in the immediate aftermath of the first movie, Kinda like Halloween II.

The sequel wouldn't play in real life if the theater burned, so I guess the second movie is playing because it exists in the same universe as the first.

I absolutely love the ending! Thought it was a great fun twist for the fans. Can't wait for the sequel!

I liked the ending. The best horror movies from the 80's all had the hook at the end. They obvious references are to Halloween II and Nightmare on Elm Street. It was just fun. It was cheap to bring them back, but I was happy to see Duncan again. Middleditch gives me a boner.

I really hope there will be a sequel. I liked it! But I'm sure poor box office numbers will cancel that. Sucks! :-(

Halloween is my favourite slasher film series. Although I really only count Halloween, Halloween 2 and H20 because of Jamie Lee. Speaking of, the end of The Final Girls reminded me a bit of Halloween 2 with the hospital setting.

...and in conclusion that is why squirrels should always wear pants.

I liked the ending. It was cool to be reminded that there was also a sequel. And after the sequel ended, who knows, maybe they were transported back to the beginning of the first movie, in a never ending loop.

LOL yes! the ending was great
