I care. I saw THE GOOD EARTH and read Pearl Buck's novel as well. This story begins with that background - drought, locusts, no food, walking and train travel but it sweeps wide with people forced to become refugees, struggling to survive. Maybe in a hundred years some lone survivors will discover a film library with a player and see what humanity was capable of enduring in 1942. On Netflix I've discovered a treasure trove from Taipei, Beijing, Hong Kong (maybe Singapore and Malaysia as well. I've seen Japanese films since the 1950s, recently discovered Korean movies and television series on Netflix. Don't need my television set anymore for my retirement diversion.
