Home Alone in the Hood

The parallels between this and Home Alone are amazing. SPOILERS.

A young kid finds his home life to be unsatisfying. He wishes that his mom would go away because he wants to "run things his way" and be the man of the house. Eventually his wish comes true and he is left to fend for himself with all the amazing liberation and hardships that come with. Shopping for food, personal hygiene; just trying to live a normal life. Sticky Bandits and Ghetto Bandits? You got em.
Notice the parallels between the scary old man in Home Alone versus the cop who threatens to take Mister away. Eventually through some circumstance the cop saves our troubled child just as the snow plowing old man did in Home Alone. Mister is finally confronted with his largest fear only to find "it's not so bad" as Kevin M would say.
Finally the mother, who has traveled her own journey of torment, returns to say "I'm sorry".

Ha, ha, ha ... you're right ! So funny !! You didn't even have to write the explanation, to my mind.

Maybe they should do a remake of Home Alone using a black family. Only, it probably would still be in an affluent neighborhood. (The burglars could be white !!!)

The only similarity bwt the two movies in the child being left at home alone, but for totally different reasons----other than that, the two movies are nothing alike at all.

I just watched this film on Netflix UK and really enjoyed it. Skylan Brooks is top notch in the lead role. Home Alone didn't come to mind but the director must have seen Steven Soderbergh's 1993 film King of the Hill on more than one occasion.
