Im kind of shocked you walked out to be honest this was a great movie, very moving. Ive seen movies where they actually show the child being endangered like for example being hit or abused but in this it was very subtle which I was glad of because I find it difficult myself to get through a film that shows child abuse. The scene where Pete pulled up his shirt to reveal the burn mark on his back when he opened up to Mister was very, very moving. And then when he said "Is it wrong to not love your mother" I was in bits. I found myself at the end of the film wishing the 2 of them could carry on living in their little bubble (with plenty of food, electricity, heating and medical help of course!) together because Mister took excellent care of the both of them given their conditions. The only thing I was horrified by was the end when Mister was happily given back to that bloody mother. I didn't like the way they sugar coated that situation and in the end it was all ok again even though she had had drugs around Mister, acted that way then abandoned him for so long to get herself well again not even checking to make sure he was safe. A REAL mother who cared regardless of past mistakes would first and foremost do everything in their power to make sure their child is safe. If she cared so much she should have rung the home and checked her kid was ok instead of assuming I mean I didn't get why he was allowed to go back into her care. But anyhow it ended I guess happily for Mister but for Pete I felt very sad for. Hes ok in the home, fed and looked after, but Mister protected him from bullies in there so without mister to protect him I fear Petes ending wasnt so happy.
