reply

No there's not going to be an American remake, thank god, as Hollywood would slaughter this film*.
There is, however, going to be a SEQUEL, as you can see, involving "the further adventures of Thale", which will be mixed language. Not providing a link 'coz it'll take longer to write than:
Google "YesBox Productions"
They have a very small website and Thale is on the landing page.
(*although I could totally see Summer Glau playing Thale, though it can't really be anyone but Silje)

The Hulders would have to be replaced by Bigfoots (Bigfeets?) in the US version.🐭

Nice......
American Test Audiences ARE representative of the country as a whole, generally speaking, and they have a hell of a red ledger of offences against film artistry...

reply

Do all countries use test audiences?

I can't imagine auteurs putting up with the idea, but perhaps financiers require test audiences as a condition of funding projects.

If test audiences have become the norm, it would explain the vanilla banality of so much modern film.

I don't think most countries use test audiences, not to the extent Hollywood does at any rate.
In Hollywood, they go and pick the nearest, stupidest, lazy idiots who hate subtitles and expect the story to be laid out for them like a children's story. They are responsible for Aliens (1986), Bladerunner (82), Event Horizon (92?), The Abyss (can't remember) and hundreds of others getting chopped or reworked.
Other countries seem to test to a receptive audience, film-goers, relatives of crew etc.

And yes they totally account for the *beep* state of US mainstream films, with few exceptions.
