Enough name dropping in the description?

In the vein of the brutal heist drama Reservoir Dogs, the modern crime thriller A History of Violence, and the classic western High Plains Drifter, SWELTER is a violent story of greed and retribution.

It may turn out to be a decent movie, but that description looks desperate.

I agree. My thoughts exactly.

Might as well just say what it's about, because for the life of me those three movies have nothing to do with each other.

And I wouldn't classify "A History of Violence" as a modern crime thriller.

reply

I'm afraid this movie has nothing to do with either one of those three

It's like this movie you like, and that movie you like, and that other movie you like, so you must like this movie. The absolute cheapest way in attempting to appeal to an audience. Always beware of movies comparing themselves to other movies.

It's usually a warning when you see "From the producers/director of this popular film" on the poster art, but yea when you see a shameless plotline like this run from it. It shouldn't even be legal to slander the three aforementioned great films, but I guess since anyone can basically write and edit the summary on this site they let it slide.

It's not too bad for a JCVD movie that isn't really a JCVD movie at all.🐭
