Bollywood needs to evolve...

I am not a fan of Aamir or Salman.I mostly watch great hollywood movies and some critically acclaimed bollywood ones(Udaan,Dev D,Shaitan,Gangs of Wasseypur) and I have nothing against masala movies. The thing that bothers me is how you indians enjoy such cheesy and ridiculous movies.
The dialogues are so pathetic it makes me want to leave the theatre.
Shahrukh Khan is a talented actor and he should be working with Anurag Kashyap,Vikramaditya Motwane and other great directors. He'll be perfect in any role if the director gave him a challenging script.
What do you guys think?

Dude all masala movies are *beep*

Shahrukh Khan is a loser

Why did you pick this unreleased board to post on? Go over to the Indian Cinema board. There's lots of SKR haters over there.

I've been watching movies for many decades. Some I watch for the content, some because they are great stories put together well, some for the adrenalin action.

But, every once in awhile I want to rest my brain, watch a comedy, rom-com, or . . . masala.

So pathetic, cheesy, ridiculous. We're all different.

Although there's SRK haters on the ICB board, don't you say "you Indians enjoy . . . " over there. You'll get blasted. Wide and diverse group over there.

So, did you like the trailer? Anyway, I am personally going to invite all SRK lovers and haters to Indian Cinema Board.

It's quite touching how you haven't forgotten SRK and visited this board.

there were no dollars in them days.
but sons of bitches yea.

FYI wuzumu, themanwithnoname's post here is BS. He stalks me. I post anywhere and he finds me and has to say something snarky. I have supported SRK in the past and, all in all, think he is a great human being and, like you, think he is a talented actor who doesn't have enough decent vehicles to show it. I am a fan of many foreign cinemas and the good stuff out of Hollywood and I gather this is a common problem. Anyway, like I said, go over to the ICB with trepidation. Ignore everything themanwithnoname posts and you'll spot the good post-ers. Don't give up on the biggest movie producing country on earth, all the cinema centers (said differently, not just Mumbai, aka Bollywood).

wait I don't understand what themanwithnoname said.was it something against srk?

reply

On a French (or some such) movie thread I was commenting on, he answered my post by placing in the reply SRK's Chennai Express trailer which just came out. So that's the first sentence.

Then, he pontificated that he was going to ask all SRK lovers and haters to go the ICB board.

The last thing is his signature, which he fails to set aside from the body of his posts and which makes no sense. Not sure if he's Indian or not, I think so because he posts in Hindi sometimes (to be honest, I can't recognize Hindi -- it could be another language).

It's too bad that these boards are populated by trolls. Ah, well, life goes on. He is just a pest who I try to ignore.

My signature is a famous line from the greatest movie ever made.

Anyway, forget imella. Even though she loves SRK, she wouldn't dare come to Indian Cinema Board. Hell, she probably won't even watch Chennai Express. If you truly want to discuss the movie, come over to Indian Cinema Board. There are many SRK fans in there.

OUATITW is an excellent film.but I don't understand how it's the greatest movie ever made. You probably haven't watched The Godfather,Goodfellas,Pulp Fiction,Raging Bull and other movies by Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino.

As for the Indian Cinema Board, can you post the link?

Abhay Deol was an average actor before he starred in Dev.D,Shahid Kapoor was an average actor before he starred in Kaminey and Gulshan Devaiah was a nobody before he starred in Shaitan.you getting my point?
Shahrukh Khan has usually played a lover boy who tries hard to look under-age and fails miserably.I'm not saying he's never acted in critically acclaimed movies.Once in five years he does a movie worth being appreciated but then sticks back to mindless masala or an average romance film.
If I were a film director I'd give him the role of a retired man who is married and has children. Then I'd create a proper plot involving crime/drama and an interesting screenplay, then work hard to get srk prepare for his role, employing whatever extreme tactic I feel is necessary to elicit the best performance from him.Now that's called Method Acting.Very few bollywood filmmakers have applied this to actors.

I love your explanation anyway.
And yes, probably there something about Masala thingy, and if we rewind back to the JTHJ with a lot of expectation, probably this one will end up like that.
I wish out there, a director with stories and place him (SRK) in best way.

Let us look back a sec, Karan Johar. He made SRK all over the world than Aditya Chopra did (if you know what I mean, SRKajol thingy) then Farah Khan (director wanna be) he made sort of funny-fool movie. But SRK looks best that way. Late Yash Chopra made him a life time lover boy.
Then Farhan Akhtar, made him bigger to the outer (out of India), and I love the transition between first and second one. The first (remake) still a lot of dancing, singing, then the second better, so much...
I don't know much about Anurag Kashyap (sorry for miss-type), but it seems SRK should make something bigger than Don 2, in scale of Bollywood. (Yea, people still put low score for this suspense genre.

And there are two things that I hope SRK will do.
1. Make movie with his best-jodi ever, Kajol, and Karan should be there! Or you name it, better director? why not?
2. Don 3. Make it even bigger, and still, put Indian there! :3
2+. Please do not ever put Katrina in his next movie.

reply

yeah right, should NEVER cast katrina with him!

Live and let Live!

kabhi haan kabhi naa. it depends how he thought hai naa?
let him choose his path in acting.
But yes, I would love if he do a movie with a lot of actions, and meaningful like MNIK before.

I went through your profile and I hate to be the one to say it to you but....
YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MOVIES,KID!
you rated udaan 6/10! are you kidding me? and you rated movies like bol bachchan higher! what's the matter with you?

reply

I am so sorry for your judgement.
I was entertained by Bol Bachchan, and for Udaan. I was watching it a long time ago. I found no interest.
So valid right that I rate such score.

And if you know a lot of movies, then teach me. Nothing to lose anyway right?

Usually I rate them based on story. In how they amused me, made me believe such story and all...

nah not interested,I'm not an srk fan

so you rate them based on it's story, are you implying that udaan didn't have a good story?
bol bachchan was a cheap third grade comedy anyway

@ Wuzumu

Here's a thought : "A Software Engineer uses computer for programming and to earn bread-n-butter. A teenager uses computer for entertainment. But, engineer can't blame that teenager for misusing the Computer"

Same goes with movies: There are all kinds of movies ranging from height-of-stupidity to great-brilliant-ones. It depends on every individual to watch and protect whatever they like. Example, "The godfather" is a great movie, for me, but when I tried to show it to my friend, he took long breaks-received phone calls and asked me at the end 'So, what was the movie about?'. We can't blame people for their choices. (BTW, Udaan is a brilliant movie and the story is so close to the reality)

About SRK ?? : BOOOO...... He is a perfect example of how success can make people mad!!!

And... Here's my signature
"Its silly to expect Happy Ending in all movies"

@GlobalReviewer,that's a good explanation

He was a great actor, now all he does are commercial cinemas which don't require much of acting skills, the only big gun in bollywood whom I respect is Aamir Khan because of the film he chooses.

These so called other big guns, all they think is how much money their film grosses irrespective of the quality of the film they choose to act in. There are few bright spots like Motwane, Anurag Kashyap, Rajkumar Hirani, Mehra in an otherwise dwindling quality of Hindi cinema.
