I was looking fwd to watch this film in cinema on EID, but after such a rubbish trailer, I dont think its worth it. Same old expressions from SRK, idiotic smiles and the same crappy action of Rohit shetty that we have seen so many times now.. bikes flying and cars exploding just by a touch! ...
Does anyone else feel the same way?

shareit wasn't rubbish at all. I am more to the movie. Since Rohit Shetty succeed in making a good movie. Made a lot of memorable scenes. SRK? Expression? Because people love it. Simple right?

Storyline is : "Rahul embarks on a journey to a small town in Tamil Nadu to fulfill the last wish of his grandfather: to have his ashes immersed in the Holy water of Rameshwaram". (Very sensitive. And any talented movie-maker with real passion for movies would make a most of it. Like, the journey of a poor man trying to fulfill his dead grandpa's last wish, his experiences over the journey etc.)
Instead, what we will see is :
1) Another "angle" of a love story.
2) 30-45 minutes of singing n dancing (off course, its SRK.. let's dance)
3) Unnecessary comedy characters played by struggling actors.
4) stupid boy-girl fight and finally a love story (50 years we have been watching this..)
5) blah blah blah
6) blah blah blah

.
.
99) Ohh wait !!! its Rohit Shetty directing ?? "Action Scenes".. (a common man can fight like anything).
100) In reviews, we will see people discussing this "blockbuster" movie.(only in terms of money earned)

I can somehow relate to what you say. I wasn't impressed by the trailer at all. But the songs are catchy & I am looking forward to it. And I am not expecting much from it.

I like his demeanor and portrayal in rom-coms, that's it. I will be watching Chennai Express for the coming weekend turns out to be a mini-vac, you see!
I'm pretty sure I won't like it, because the trailers are lowly & it is directed by the amateur Rohit Shetty.

2. People like YOU watch it (and pay for it) and say that your intention is just for mini-vacation or entertainment.
3. SRK earns million-billion (Because India is 2nd largest country in population)
4. SRK is happy and he decides to make another silly romantic movie. (Why would anybody work hard if he/she can earns billion dollars easily ??)
So... why do people like you are making them rich ??
I understand that due to our hectic lifestyle we all seek for a little entertainment and not all people can digest True Story type movies. But it's us who are paying and they are getting paid for non-sense.

Well, what do you suggest? I am an avid cinephile and am a fan of world cinema. But, since I am interested in Bollywood as well (Ship of Theseus, for instance), I have no other option.
And I cannot just adopt piracy and watch it for free when it is available in nearby theaters. Bollywood has had a drastic paradigm shift & it sucks, mind you, it sucks blowhard. I am pretty sure OUATIMD will turn out to be *beep* as well.
2013, for instance has left us with no option. Tell me something that I don't know & I will concur!

Here are few points:
1. I am an Indian and Bollywood is a Big Shame for me. (I mean movies in last 2 decades).
2. I don't remember if I have seen any Bollywood movie in theaters from last 3 years. Don't even look out for pirated copies as Time is the most valuable factor which I wouldn't waste on *beep* movies. And a Bollywood movie, like Chennai Express,doesn't deserve to be watched on a pirated copy. Huhh !!!
3. In my opinion, western sailors like Columbus, Vasco-Da-Gama took initiative and explored the world. We Indians,used to relax in our own boundaries and let them rule us. Same goes with movies. I am not suggesting you to watch every Hollywood movie but many of them have a good plot because westerns have an attitude of experimenting. In Bollywood, art is considered as a business.
Ever heard about Cannes festival??
I pity you when you say you missed the movies of last 2 decades. Keeping the potboilers aside, there are tens of movies that are intense & truly potential, so sad they were indie & independent.
Piracy is only relevant if that movie isn't available by other means, so to say.
You talk about Cannes. Why not TIFF & other similar ones? They showcase some of the greatest films being made. But even that is beyond the topic we are discussing here.
PS: Chennai Express is getting bad reviews more. People are a-changing?

I didn't missed movies in last 2 decades. I keep a watch on good ones and enjoy few selected. Too bad that great movies don't last much in theaters.
Anyway, I m not at all expecting anything from CE as most of the reviews say that it is "Masala Entertainment Movie". Enjoy !!!
