will chennai express change srk staus????

can the upcoming movie, which is the 4th srk's try to take back the bollywood teritory from the *beep* king slaman khan.???????????

sharukh khan's first try was the much anticipated ra-one,which turned out to be a bit ugly and cannot take upto expectation but collected 240cr.

his second try was in the form of a sequel-don 2,but due to mania of masla genre in india ,its collections didnt rose that much higher.it collected 245cr

his next try was in the form of romance with yash chopra but the film was not accepted by ordinary low class audiences,so it collected 235cr

now he comes with a complete masala entertainer CHENNAI EXPRESS.a rohit shetty film, with deepika padukone.

will give his mojo back.

SRK is already much loved by people than Salman. Salman is in a roller coaster ride right now, just like Akshay did couple of years ago with his comedy. But eventually the ride goes down. On the other hand SRK rides smoothly, never goes too high or too down. That's why I like this man. I wish all the success to Chennai Express and its team.

Salman was arguably the biggest commercial star in the 90's (Including MPK for '89). His poor film selection and the content's lack of resonance with the audience resulted in him having quite a shabby run from 2000 up until 2009. Just a few big hits here and there. Wanted lit the pyre, but Dabangg really got it going.

It's wrong to compare his success to that of a temporary roller coaster ride. Akshay's mean streak started because the audience was tuning in for films they saw him to be fit in. Likewise with Salman; his avatar in Dabangg was perfect and people took to it immediately.

He has always had the fan following, he just needed to be prodded in the right direction. Heck, the man even knew a lot of his films would be commercial disasters, but he did them as 'favours'. I've seen quite a few other actors saying the same thing, as well.

Since Dabangg, the reason why he's been getting more and more juggernaut openings is because the public knows their money is being well-spent on his films (matter of opinion). They've learned to trust his films again to deliver pure masala entertainment.

We can say the same for Shah Rukh, except that he has never really had a low season where we've experienced a chain of flops. Most of his films have always had something for the 'aam janta', or they at least appeal to different pockets; a hit overseas, but flop in the domestic market, or vice versa.

i totally agree to your comment you made above.. des[ite considering the hits like dabnagg salman is nothing from 2000 to 2009. the much awaited film chennai express doesnt belong to a statement that srk stardom will be top revised. srk havnt faced utter flop movies as compared with the other actors, he is the king of the bollywood. In a comptetive field some will come up and the other may go down and its natural.chennai express is a huge hit in the box office and its a new era.

IF BILLYWOOD IS A RELIGION.... THEN SRK IS THE GOD...!!!

Quietly agreed. I won't say that both Akshay and Salman did there, I mean roller-coaster thingy. The thing is, Salman just got his Identity through Dabangg, I watched it, and I liked it. Simply it fits enough to him. He can't play for a smart role, so Dabangg the fittest character he should be.

More to Akshay. He just like Salman, but he hasn't got his Identity yet. But when Akshay and Salman combined in one title, it should be hilarious.

And for somebody out there said "Kat can't act to save him", quietly agreed yaar. I don't like her also, prefer her act in "Salam Namastey", (if you know what I mean)

And expectation. I have no expectation. I just will watch it, and score it. Like or not will be another thread to be discussed. It might said that Salman more powerful, or whatever, but what I see is, SRK has ability to turn shabbiness to awesomeness...

nah, his ass will be kicked again. By Akshay.

I think you mean "audiences who watched the film with a brain". Khan's latest movies have been pure drivel, Don 2's technical excellence notwithstanding. MNIK was an over-hyped pityfest filled with tacky melodrama ("pity me because I'm ______ and the world hates me" is not a compelling storyline for any movie). Ra.One was just...bad. And none of JTHJ made any sense, plus Kaif can't act to save his life.

Is SRK a good actor? Sure. But he's been doing really awful moves lately. Maybe Chennai Express will be different... but it probably won't be.

Now, what do you say?

Had I charged 2 cents for every opinion of mine, I would be a millionaire.

reply

So far I've only heard bits of the title song, sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam. It's an absolutely awful song, so... I don't think Chennai Express will be anything special.

reply

how dare you questions the technical excellence of don2,it would be nice if u suggest me a better action movie in bollywood that don2.
jab tak hai jaan was a good quality .
why the hell you just forget that that was made by a 80 years old man,he used to reprise his old vision os pure love, some audience look for some entertainment they didint find any.

and ra one it is a bad movie

I think Akshhay is the only actor who has been in the industry for 20 yrs and have not given a single masterpiece. his movies come entertain and go....nobody remembers his movies. All the actors who have survived this long has given a lot of movies to remember.

Amir: Almost all his movies are great.
SRK: Darr, DDLJ, KKHH, Swadesh, Chak De, Veer Zara.
Salman: Hum Aapke hain kaun, Tere naam(People still watch the movie)

Akshay is a good actor and have given hits..no doubt...

But not a single memorable movie. I liked Special 26...But its not a masterpiece.

reply

Chennai Express is strong on content - story, screenplay, dialogues, comedy & cinematography. So, it will reset all lifetime records both in India & overseas.

My prediction is lifetime domestic nett of 300 crore!
