I mean it is that likable? Shahrukh's over acting, deepika's very artificial forced accent does not make one cringe? I enjoyed golmaal one and singham, but I find the trailers of chennai express very repulsive.I like SRK personally though, he has got good sense of humour, I know he can act well but not sure why he chooses to do overacting when it comes to comedy.

He is an over-actor - all part of the 'charm' ay! I agree that he can be a good actor but I've only seen this in two movies 1) swades 2) chak de india - all else he's *beep* And i don't like him! There's nothing attractive about cockiness! Don't understand why people even have to rat up to him - it makes him an even egotistical prick

Highly agree.....I think it is just because of SRK & rohit's popularity and nothing else.The whole movie was a peice of waste and people use to like whatever they serve.

Right now Bollywood is going through one of its best phases, every masala movie with a top actor starring in it is fetching humongous box office collections.
Not trying to be rude towards the Indian Audience but it appears that the general IQ level of India decreases by 10 whenever a Salman or Shah Rukh movie is out.

Indians like two things
1. Escapism in Cinema
2. Star power

This movie has both. So, it'll definitely rake in moolah. And frankly I don't have any problem with that. What I don't like is that really good movies go unnoticed. Like gangs of wasseypur. It was commended by even Martin Scorsese (unbelievably huge honor). But it could hardly make 40 crores. Both parts included.

For me, Shahrukh movies are love or hate. I really loved his silly antics in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. But Chennai Express was outright mindless.

For me, Lootera is a masterpiece, but we all know films be it Lootera or Gangs of Wasseypur, however superior they may be, never ever make enough money to motivate film makers to invest in more such art pieces :(

Vikramaditya Motwane continues to do films, same for Anurag Kashyap. It's a known fact some films are not made to reach a wide audience. These movies still get made because they do have an audience, even if it's not the largest one. The largest audience will always be for mass entertainers, be it in India or in the USA. That's logical. This has never kept independent or off the beaten path films from being released.

It has fallen to 6.9 and will fall even further. Usually movies get a 1 point jump when they are newly released as it is mostly hero fans who watch it. Over the next 3 months, it will normalise to 6.5, where it truly deserves to sit.
