Some Very Funny Parts, But Could Have Been Better

The comic stuff in the movie is very good. In fact, some of it is gold. This movie could have been a grand slam if it weren't for one thing......the screenwriters threw in scenes of catharsis for the characters. You know....dramatic scenes.

Although the cast members are all very good actors and can handle drama without any problem, the problem is with the material. This is broad comedy, and always has been. Dramatic scenes just do not work with this particular kind of comedy. Trying to give Patsy and Edwina depth? Nope....doesn't work. All of those scenes were just out of place in this kind of show.
