The Ending (Spoilers)

(Spoilers)

Really pissed me off. 87 minutes of a woman being tortured, a few beautiful minutes of revenge, only for her to be shot the instant she escapes. On top of that, the filmmaker tells US, the audience, that the guy she made out with at a bar once kills her. She doesn't even see him, the director wants us to know how much it sucks even though it shouldn't matter who kills her because she can't even see him.

I enjoyed many aspects of the film but that ending really took it down a notch. I don't require a happy ending in every film I watch, but this film really needed one.

F.Y.I You should use the Spoilers tag above to hide certain text in your post! Just saying

but I agree with that was a stupid ending when she walked out of that "barn"(?) I thought yeah at least one made it out alive and then bang.. pretty silly to end a movie this way it seems like rachel nichols even sucks as producer too!

Thanks for the thoughts but I'm sure that a post entitled The Ending (Spoilers) that begins with the warning (Spoilers) and is filled with nothing but my thoughts on the ending is warning enough.

reply

You're right it's fine :-)

reply

Right, because it's the producer's fault that the writer and director went forward with an awful ending.

You're an idiot.

This is just another movie trying to go for shock ending just for the sake of it.

1/5 is my rating for this garbage.

I was hoping that when she got to the party upstairs she was just going to start shooting and murdering everyone. That would have been a proper ending, even if she still got shot as soon as she exited.

reply

I agree with the above. This movie was already stupid but if she killed everyone right before she died with her gun it would make an already dumb film a little bit better.

reply

Im guessing the only reason she didnt rampage on the crowd was because of the kids in the playpen right next to the party... cliche ending tho when any survivor is running in a straight line away from something after them and boom lol.

reply

Agree, that would have been an excellent way to end it. A huge bloodbath at the end of all the torture and forced fighting and killings.

Just watched this for a second time and this time I got the feeling she may not be dead. Yeah she's badly wounded and would wake up on a table after being re-captured, but that would make a sequel possible.
The final overdub of her saying she was fighting for her daughter, and her seeing her on the bridge made me think they left it open just in case.
Good film though, really enjoyed it.

the fact is that no one should survive, otherwise someone would have already spoken to the police.

Didn't see the ending as I watched the film purely for the fight sequences.

Just the same, I'm not surprised they should end the film like that. Granted I could see the feasibility of what one poster noted: that she might come back for a sequel. Just the same, given the pretty flimsy premise of the film and the opening title cards that were not in the final cut but included as DVD extras (i.e. X number of women disappear every year, with Y percentage never being seen again), she could've escaped & the same gladiatorial setup could've simply been set elsewhere in a sequel.

At this point, given how little money the film made, if there are sequels they'll likely be straight to video, with lesser-quality fight sequences, and even lesser storylines & acting chops.

lol, as if that were possible!

I agree. This movie has a lot of good points but the ending was very weak.

With great power comes great responsibility.

I thought at first that the dark haired woman in the evening gown at the party was the one that was going to stop her/kill her. because she was the last one standing when Zoe was leaving the barn. the camera focused on her for a few seconds then showed her running back I think towards the elevator like she knew what needed to be done.

I think that would have been a slightly better ending having there be one more woman she unexpectedly had to fight just as she was about to cross the threshold of freedom. and it might have been a woman who was the head couple's daughter or a previous survivor of the fights that joined the organization.

but the ending the had felt so - thought of last moment - and unfulfilling.

it made a barely bearable movie now seem like such a total waste of time.

I did like some of the fight scenes and the dark atmosphere it set in the first half of the film I appreciated. it was not a very good movie and the ending made sure (at least to me) that it was overall pointless.

I agree. Overall I thought his was a pretty good B-movie but the ending did make it all seem like a waste of time.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

Well said, (everybody)! I wouldn't have minded a brutal/unhappy ending, as long as it had a point or a good twist, or something. Instead, they threw in some meaningless twist that I didn't even understand the reference to until I came here and saw a summary, and made the whole struggle and storyline of the protagonist totally irrelevant, ugh!
