Rachel Nichol's in Raze does NOT= Drew Berrymore in Scream (BIG SPOILER)

In Scream, Berrymore was given top billing despite an early exit. However, her screen time was incredible, almost epic. Perhaps one of the most iconic scenes in horror film history.

Rachel Nichols was a shill. She had some weak backstory and a few lines then gets brutalized.

The top billing/early death is where the similarities end between the two.

If anything, she was like Jessica Alba in Machete Kills.

She had some weak backstory

frankly there was no backstory at all we see her in a bar with an guy which she tells that her dream is to be a professional kickboxer and grinned like a Cheshire cat thats hardly a backstory

but I agree with you she was a simple shill!

How did I miss that part? I was looking for her the whole film but I guess I was looking for the same cover girl character she was playing in P2.

reply

it's fairly at the beginning normally you can't miss her ;)

her breasts looked smaller and were far less distracting than in P2.

I agree with your point about Rachel Nichols but calling Drew Barrymores scene in Scream "one of the most iconic in horror film history" is totally ridiculous. It's not even the most iconic scene of that movie. If that is your honest opinion then I suggest expanding your viewing habits and watching more horror because that stamens makes you sound seriously naive.

Maybe you were exaggerating to make your point, fair enough. Or maybe you are just a casual viewer of the horror genre without much exposure to the quality that's out there. That's one thing. but seriously putting barrymores performance, scene or character in the same realm as not only classic horror, but the more modern ones that far exceed Scream in every way, is embarrassing.

reply

Maybe the term iconic is an exaggeration, but In terms of scenes alone, not just deaths, Drew Berrymore's scene in Scream is one of the most regognizable scenes in alll horror movies; ok, maybe of the modern era. As far as deaths, Rose McGowan's is probably to most memorable. As far as an enter scene, it's Drew.

Few modern horror films meet, let alone exceed, Scream. It's become an easy target for hipsters who think anything with an audience is "mainstream trash", but it's still the best slasher movie in the last twenty years.

Your subject title is one big spoiler!

I was shocked with such an fast and stupid exit like that, I even believed there would be some sorta flashback with her or something; very imbecil idea

I agree with what others posted: there wasn't much of a backstory to her victim character at all. She was just some poor random girl who happened to have some really good fight skills in spite of making it seem like she'd trained at some point before.

It made for a good fight sequence, no doubt. But, storywise, they could've either made her an up & coming fighter (thus explaining how she went as long as she did w/ Sabrina), or Sabrina could've taken her out a lot sooner (thus demonstrating just how out of her league Rachel's character was).

agreed. I didnt even know she was the first killed. It was a dumb movie but rented for Rachel if i wouldhave known this i wouldnt have rented.

reply

I was distracted by her thinning hair.
