Question about Rachel (Rosario Dawson's character)

Watched this movie several times over the last couple of months (due to Showtime and a few other premium channels playing it repeatedly - thanks DirectTV).

Like others who commented in the specific threads about Rosario, I wondered why she had such as small role. I don't recall seeing her in any other fights besides the one with Teresa (and I'm not sure, but I think that was also really the only fight we saw Teresa in).

Something I just noticed this time, though: (Mini-spoiler) As Teresa is choking Rachel, she makes a final plea. I couldn't tell for sure, but it sounded like she says "Tell Benny I love him". I may be totally making this up, but for some reason, I thought Teresa said that Benny was her husband's name. So, should we assume that they actually knew each other before they were abducted, makes this a more important scene than I'd appreciated the first several times around?

Aside - I thought it was interesting that others mentioned that Tracie Thoms and Rosario Dawson are actually friends IRL.
