Disgusted...

I support legalizing pot for those who truly medically need it. I feel it is less dangerous than narcotics people are put on...I thought the show would be about this...it's not...what a joke.

I am disgusted by this show. The owners are just a bunch of hippy pot heads who found a legal way for them to sell pot and smoke it themselves.

Patients??? What a joke and an insult to those who are truly suffering! I'm 32, I had my first hip replacement last year, will have my other next year. I'd love for them to actually experience the true pain I've been in and the fact I've said no to narcotics because I don't want to spend my days loopy and not function.

What was their ailment?? One gets nervous when going up to speak? Ahhh boohoo, poor baby. What was the other one's ailment? The two that are growing it, what do they have wrong with them??? Wow, 60hrs a week being physical, hmmm, sounds like they could get a job to me.

This is the reason why people don't want it legal for medical reasons! Heck, after watching this show, I'm turned off! If they weren't hippy pot heads and most of the people they show actually have something very wrong with them, then I could get behind this show.

Who are these doctors giving these people medical licenses??? They should have their medical license revoked.

A good cause getting lost behind the stoner pothead aspect....Try again Discovery.

did you not see the guy with one arm?
thc is what gets you high, cbd doesn't. In the show, they usually recommend products with cbd to help patients, they also recommended alternatives like tinctures and rubbing cream instead of smoking mj

reply

Yes, I did see a small few who seemed to medically need it. The rest and the owners have not said they really have anything medically wrong with them. Yes, CBD is for the pain, yet, were the owners getting that, or getting high, what pain did they need to cure?

Like I said, if majority of the show focused on those who truly authentically needed the help, I could like it, but it wasn't. It's stoner hippy owners and workers who even admitted they smoke too much! As a person with a disability and who has been in honest to goodness pain, I'm insulted they call themselves patients.

Medical marijuana needs to be available and legal to those who truly need it, I don't see this show helping in anyway. I wish it would be treated as honest to goodness medicine and dispensed where other medicines are by actual professionals, not stoners themselves. If they want this to be legalized and taken seriously, they have to act serious, not end the show with the owners getting high because they are stressed...

Maybe they should go to the doctors here in florida so they can get prescribed oxy cotton for their mild back-pains. Would they be "real patients" then?
Give me a break.
Being a patient just means that you do have some kind of medical issue and guess what? probably about 99% of the world has some kind of medical issue that could be helped out in one form or another.

Do they enjoy getting high? Of course.
Does the drug they also enjoy using help with a medical disorder? Sure.
Anxiety is a real disorder, would you rather see someone take a little bit of marijuana for that or pop a couple xanex?

Tell you what, im really tired of hearing about how this is a joke.
Come down here to Florida, take a look at our prescription pill problem (you know, "real patients with real problems")and then tell me how much better California's option looks.

Disgusted by that?...I respect anyone who would medicate on weed then someone taking pills like xanax, ritalin, oxy, paxil,...The stuff alone just to make it into pill form is questionable at best to swallow..plastics and nasty stuff....

Then the way the body has to process them... liver involved, kidney, and too many other organs....And for some reason I think the human body would recognize a plant thats been around for a long time rather then man made pills...

shame on many parents and doctors making kids take pills for years and years at such a young age....its a sad trap,,,the body never recognizes how to produce those chemicals on their own again...and coming off them is almost not even a question...the withdrawls are probably up there with hardcore drugs users..nothing weed could ever produce..

The thing with marijuana is that it's a drug that, in addition to its medical benefits, is quite pleasurable to use. You get the exact same reaction from people who use amphetamines(ritalin etc) and benzo's (valium, xanax and the like) because they are very pleasurable. Also, CBD is not the only important ingredient. For people with depression/bipolar disorder etc., the THC content is far more important.

I suffer from Bipolar Disorder myself, and cannabis has been a miracle drug for me. Do I enjoy being high/stoned? Bet your ass. Do I somewhat obsess over it? To a certain extent, but the most wonderful effect is that I can function somewhat like a normal person.

It seems to me that any pleasure derived from substances makes people see red. Any escape from the troubles in life is the most horrible sin against the cosmos. Fact is, life is pretty *beep* and we do whatever it takes to improve it. Got your heart broken? Bucket of Ben & Jerry's or a night on the town, binge drinking and finding someone to shag. This is seen as the more honorable path, yet it's far more destructive. Well, I guess one bucket of B&J isn't the end of the world, but when you see how many fat people waddle around, you know people are "self medicating" with whatever they find. Be it a bucket of fried corpse bits or a bottle of Jack (most horrible "whiskey" in the world.)

People need to let others deal with their problems on THEIR turn. I'm not going to start a campaign to stop people from masturbating because they're just quashing their biological need to procreate.. Or people using deodorant to deal with their smelliness. When you think about it, escaping problems is what life is all about. The only way to not be affected by the world in a negative way is to escape it, because you can not change other people, and changing yourself isn't going to solve a single thing unless the change you're after is just to quit caring about anything.

Speaking from experience, sitting around being miserable, trying to "face your problems" does NOTHING. You just stay super sad and miserable for a while, then you get a bit better, then something crappy happens and you get sad again.. What did you gain from it? The knowledge that life is decent at times, *beep* at others. What can you apply this knowledge to? ... Nothing... It does make it easier to justify drinking yourself into a stupor, or wallowing in self pity with a bucket of B&J (I really like B&J..) or rolling a fat doobie.

When life gets too hard, I start vaping.

Sorry, but are you their physician? You don't know what their medical conditions are. You should not judge. People are prescribed things all the time and sometimes people enjoy taking their medication.

I know people who get more Xanax than they can take. Would that be better?

How much suffering should someone endure before being treated? Who are you to say?

That said I have no doubt that some people are abusing the system and are just stoners, but that wouldn't be an issue if it were legal for recreational use.

IMO, it's worse that people are given criminal records for simple possession than that some people get a doctor to give them a recommendation when it isn't absolutely medically necessary.

I'm in AZ, where it is now legal, to Get MJ, I totally agree, all the oxy's, xanax, etc, etc are horrible to take, I walked into a clinic because I was having a hard time sleeping and some Moron Dr prescribed Xanax to me, which I took for close to two years every night, I finally against the med dr's cold turkey'd of xanax, and let me tell you, you want to talk about insomnia, I went through hell getting of that ishhh. 2 months, how bad is Weed? really... certainly less potent then Xanax???

I believe MJ is safe, its certainly safer than alcohol? Right??? And yet alcohol has the highest addiction rate....

Anyone who claims to be disgusted simply because a normal healthy person chooses to smoke pot has some really serious issues and should probably consider taking a toke themselves to get all of the disgust out of their disgusted little minds.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

Lets talk about how a Dr discovers that you are addicted to a drug like Norco or Vicodin. If you are actually in pain you wont get that major rush and it will effectivly dampen your pain. The rush you get from codine, alcohol, pot, etc has to do with your mental state and the need to escape the days troubles. Anyone who wants to "feel the buzz" no matter what the source is at least semi addicted to that substance. No Dr will continue to prescribe a drug you tell them gives you a rush. Most of the people on this show are looking for the rush, not the benefit. Now if you want to treat Medical Pot just like beer and make it legal you have to also admit that it can and will diminish your capactiy in manner of ways. We already have a huge number of people drinking and driving and making pot legal will only add to the number of people on the road under an influence. As a person who deals with a very high level of pain every single day I'd love to be able to say that high cbc pot would help me and be able to use if for that purpose. Any other reason other than medical use is just the exact same thing as someone getting drunk, stoned from a drug like vicodin, anti-depressants etc is just a crutch or escape. Even the owner of this medical pot store doesn't think it should be legalized for just getting high and he's said it on TV more than once. Just don't attempt to tell everyone that it's just for "medical use" when its not. All mind altering substances are harmful, period, end of story.

But what drug is as harmless as Marijuana but as strong....

Coming off Marijuana is tough...but no where near any other drug especially stuff like xanax...ritalin...and Vicodin for PAIN....LOL LOL LOL....Pain killers given by DR's only produce more pain in the long run....

Marijuana hits u in seconds...effective...and...so far the most safe....

I would give kids Marijuana any day over ritalin or xanax....these poor kids at such a young age are given small doses and r slowly built up.....they practically can never come off them...And their poor bodies will always have trouble producing those chemicals on their own ever again...Not to even mention the plastics and crap that are in the pills just to make them a solid form...YUCK...

I have to chime in here, I don't think there's anything wrong with people taking cannabis for their problems , and in my opinion its a million times better than what some of these doctors are prescribing for their patients. A little over a year ago a relative of mine was going through some tough times with a passing of a family member, he wen't to his GP and told him about it, he was prescribed something called Ativan, which at the time he had no idea what it was. Doctor suggested he take them whenever he had symptoms but no more than 2 times a day. Now I have to tell you at first it did work but eventually his body got used to it, so he went and explained to his doctor that it was no longer working, the doctor upped his MG and the frequency of use.

Eventually he started taking marijuana for his depression and wanted to come off of Ativan because of how it made him feel, it was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to see someone go through, the withdrawals were devastating. I've seen heroin addicts go through withdrawals on TV and this looked 10 times worse, he couldn't go to work anymore or even function as a person. It took a good 7 months for the withdrawals to subside by slowly tapering off of it, which the doctor did not tell him about, he had to go find help somewhere else. He now smokes cannabis without any fear of such withdrawals. You talk about doctors having their license revoked, the GP who gave him ativan to begin with should have his license revoked, not these doctors prescribing marijuana. I find it absolutely disgusting that a drug like that can be prescribed for depression like it was candy and marijuana be demonized so intensely, its like you're in bizarro world.

Reply in general not really directed at the topic poster.....Psychologists deem psycho-actives as healthy..it aids in therapy. also people work around other substances and are "high" off legal substances ...you should not be ashamed of us as a movement to be taken seriously.. if you allow someone with an energy drink for instance..to work or be in public under the influence of coffee, tea, music, roid-rage and pass their efficiency as a drug for the general public with soooo many harmful side effects.. you should in any intelligent form allow this plant to be used as such. We are all adults here people.. we are forgetting what this really means. Any substance that alters mood, thought, or perception is known in psychology as a psychoactive drug. some reading material -> http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9034669/Magic-mushrooms-could-treat-depression.html. In conclusion... it all depends what we tolerate most in this world.... angry drunks or happy pot-heads love n warrrrr baby!

Came here to agree with OP, I thought this show was about some serious pot movement led by serious people for a change, not a bunch of hippies ... I see I was wrong, and it's one of the reasons why Marijuana will never be legalized. People simply can't control the effects! It's a psychoactive substance! Sure it's a pain killer, but THC wrecks your nervous system, and taxpayers aren't too enthusiastic about paying treatment for damage you did to your body yourself trying to get stoned!
I saw a post of some genius here comparing it to alcohol, I don't even know where to start with this one! And sirtj228 said it would give Marijuana to kids?? That "stuff" ritalin is given to people for treating ADD, POTS and Narcolepsy among other things. You'd give pot to a kid who has trouble sleeping? What the *beep* hell is wrong with you! Do you have any idea what THC would do to a brain of a developing toddler?! Best case scenario, it'd turn him into a pothead like you!
This thread is full of disgusting pukes! Stop bitching about legalizing it, it's never gonna happen, instead do something with your lives like get a hobby, or better yet, JOB! That should cure the thoughts of any government conspiracies, aaallliiieeeennss maaaaaaaaan!, evil corporations, dead presidents, and other worrying toughs you hippies might suffer from!

Just replying in general here...

Many people here say "Why do you knock weed when doctors are prescribing this and that many people?"

I think that's besides the point. "Why do you say it's so bad that I hit my girlfriend when there are people out there killing each other". Okay, maybe that was a little bit silly, but you get my point.
The point is: Many of the people who go this shop don't need pot, nor xanax, nor anything else. They have no real pain, they just want to get high.

I wrote a review of this show here on Imdb, and as I say there, all they talk about on "Weed Wars" is how much THC is in the products, not the amount of CBD. The more THC it has, the faster it sells (see my review for the exact quote): Many customers go there to get relief to serious pain, but most seem to go there just to get high. That was the point.
