Who is that figure following Wyatt in the Living Room?

Ok maybe this has been posted somewhere but I cant seem to find it and I tried looking it up but no one mentions it. Who or what is that figure following Wyatt in the living room with the green light on? The only thing I got is that someone said it was Hunters soul about to take possession of Wyatt and thats why Wyatt was drowned so the soul could actually possess the body but that makes no sense as its interpreted that Wyatt was Hunter all along anyway. At first I thought it was Robbie but then realised it wasnt actually a clear figure. Is it Toby? Another random ghost? Can anyone please explain this to me? Did I miss something? Nice answers please, im just really confused and its bugging me. :D

My impression is that it was definitely Toby the demon.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

I think it was too.

You know the silly thing is that never occured to me. I expected Toby to be a big hulking demon the way he stomps around and lifts little girls up by the hair, not a small childlike figure but Ive just remembered that scene when he creeps behind the babysitter in a sheet and he was rather small then as well. Gee now I feel so stupid. Thanks for answering the question though! ???

reply

Don't feel stupid! I truly think we are BOTH correct.
Toby is 'shown' (well his outline anyway lol) as very tall in silhouette (remember in Part 3 when the earthquake dust hits him?).
And Kristi describes Toby as very tall, as well.

Demons are known to be shape-shifters. They, like angels, are said to be able to change form & appearance at will.

The Ghost Dimension shows that he can change shape.

I got the impression it was Katie's body, at least the one sitting on the couch, judging from the angles.

"Shape-shifting" seems to also go well with the mere slapdash story-teller adventures of a child who is 4 ft. tall, but stomps one scary October night to scare friends at a camp or slumber party.

If I wanted to die, I'd love to see if Toby would kill me if I reacted to his shape-shifting small size with perversion. "Oh no, are you Toby? It's very kind of you to try to present yourself in this physical realm by using that white sheet of yours. What should happen next? Would you like to possess me under the covers? Wait, that wouldn't go along with your idea of wearing a *beep* would it? Can you see into my soul? Evidently, some souls are better left not possessed, hah?"

reply

It was me saying "Why the hell am I in this stupid movie? I could be doing hell of a lot of better stuff than this *beep* in the movie". A man in kids body going insane.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

What my theory about this part of the movie is that the figure who was following Wyatt/Hunter is Robby. After Robby took Wyatt/Hunter to his house after asking if he wanted to see Toby, we actually never saw Robby again. I think Robby was just an illusion figure Toby created so it would be an easy way to come to the house. Katie pretended she was taken to the hospital for a few days meanwhile Robby had time to make friends with Wyatt/Hunter and win his trust so Toby could come closer to Wyatt/Hunter.
