Mamma Mia! redux?

Everything about this looks and sounds like a cheap cash grab attempt at courting the audiences that loved Mamma Mia! (over 600 million dollars at the global box office). I mean, a sunny, breezy musical with eighties pop ditties set in a gorgeous mediterranean location, and a plot centered about a wedding? But even as mediocre as MM was, this makes the Meryl Streep musical look like a best Picture Oscar/BAFTA winner in comparison. The musical arrangements for the songs in the trailer sounded flimsy and pitiful, the singing voices were awful, and even the cinematography (that at least was MM's saving grace) seems drab and uninspired.

I was forced to watch this by the kids, but I have to say it's probably one of the worst films I have ever seen. You know when bad films are so bad they are actually brilliant? Well this film is so impossibly bad it's just unbearable to watch, it's like some kind of cruel torture!

Firstly the OP is spot on, it's not Mama Mia inspired it's a 100% Mama Mia Rip Off. It's basically like that rip off perfume you see on sale at tacky outdoor markets. It's trying to con Mama Mia fans into thinking it's somehow another version or associated. Even the poster is identical. The producers clearly had some poor money making scheme that if they duped even 20% of the Mama Mia fans they'd make a fortune and who cares if they hate it once they've parted with their money.

The singing is auto tuned rubbish, the choreography looks like they are attempting to copy someone - perhaps an instructor stood behind the camera like an exercise class! The story is terrible, the acting is bad the direction is worse.

As I said, this is not a Valley of The Dolls, it's not so bad it's actually entertaining. This film should be avoided at all costs.
