About the kids. SPOILERS

Yes, they went up the mountain to look around and the boy was probably curious about the girl getting her period so they decided to take their clothes off to show eacother their bodies. Or they were just curious and they wanted to touch eachother. Any in the flash back, when the mother first discovers the bodies it shows the boy and girl taking their clothes off, than the girl lays back but bashes her head on a rock and slips down the hole in the cave, her brother grabs her hand and tries to pull her up but cant and they both fall down the hole and die.

"The rest of the film happens.

The ending : the woman kills the two "copies" of the children at home , first she drugs them and then she turns the gas on so they will die in their "sleep" ,she leaves and phones her husband to meet her at the hill so that she can show him the childrens "original" dead bodies so that she can prove to him that the children are dead and the ones at home ( which she has gassed ) are "copies" , the husband sees the dead children and thinks that she has killed them , he shoots her in the head and then shoots himself.

You now see the "copies" of the husband and wife get in the car and drive off , you know that they are "copies" as the mans driving points directly to how the boy was driving when the father was teaching him earlier on ( ie stop start stop start ) he has lost his memory of how to drive."

Whats also important is the fact that the gas station guy tells the mother that the evil spirits that live up there pray on the weak. The spirits seem to copy people that have sin. So I would suspect that would include serial killers, as in the guy in the start of the film, whom appears to head back to the mountain and die in a very painful way. The incestuous kids. And now the murdering parents.


The real question is whats going to happen to the parents now? Will they go mad and kill/rape some people before they to go back to the mountain and die off like the serial killer? Maybe the spirits can only copy them for a certain period of time before they have to go back to where ever they come from and wait for a new weak/sinful person to stumble up the mountain. Hope I helped abit.

I agree with most of that summary of the ending, EXCEPT, I didn't take the husbands reaction as him thinking the wife killed the children. It seemed to me like he became possessed and killed the wife to keep the secret of the bodies. The has station guy said the spirits preyed on the weak. The husband was not as strong willed as the wife, and I believe he became possessed, then shot his wife, then himself.

I could be wrong, but that's what it looked like to me. His reaction, the sounds, the look on his face, etc

The poster who already replied did a great job summarizing things, but I just wanted to add that I wouldn't consider a brother and sister looking at each other naked out of curiosity to be "incest." But they were still doing something they weren't supposed to be doing, and were thus open to being "copied"/possessed in their moment of weakness.
