The thing that struck me about this movie *spoilers*

Were the "evil" acts committed by people who were not possessed by the devil.

The incestuous relationship between the children.

The husband hitting his wife.

The parents murdering Lucio.

The parents enjoying the aftermath (in the shower) of murdering Lucio.

It feels like there is more to this story than meets the eye...some deeper commentary on the evil side of humanity.

Thoughts?

for sure, theres a surface story and a real story. If it's watched as just a surface story, we have a straight horror film, which is ok. I took it as a riff on sex and evil, how it all starts when we start of have sexual feelings as a kid. I thought the bruise on the wife was from the devil (as it is on the kids and the baby-sitter), but it makes sense that the husband did it, as he was kicking furniture the night before. It's like we are all possessed by the devil at some point, always battling those two sides within ourselves

See my post in the message board called 'subtext' for more insight that I noticed....

Well i agree with some points...like how evil is committed by people who arent possessed. But the children having incestuos relationship isnt really real in terms they arent siblings anymore....theyre demons now using the children's bodies.
And i dont think the husband tried to hit her...he was kicking stuff around and probably something he kicked hit her...maybe? I thought maybe the demon could've done it...since he did leave footprints on the babtsitter's chest.
