Season One vs. Season Two

Okay, having seen the entire first season and now the first episode of the second season, which do you like better?

I myself am not really bothered by the change from Shiri Appleby to Candice Accola. I adore Shiri, but I also really like Candice. Side note, as a guy I have to say openning shots of Candice were just jaw dropping; she gets more beautiful with time.

Okay, libido in check, so they switched cast members. Not a big deal. Nice attention to detail in that future Chloe from 2022 mentioned that she met this girl named Lucy whom gave her this killer app. That bridges cast members and/or seasons and isn't a detail you always see. I liked that season two is going to revolve around the hot attractive, likely party girl, whom needs to settle down with Mr. Right before she becomes a lonely has been. This as opposed to season one when we saw the mousey girl that needed to learn to stand up for herself as much as anything else. Thankfully between seasons, they're not just recycling character types. Apprently Lucy improved her app if future and past self's can talk to each other using Face Time.

So the jury is still out. I've yet to decide which season I like better, but to bad such an original show is so short - at only about ten minutes an episode - cause I agree with others that have said this should really be a half-hour show. Can't wait till the next episode!!!

I watched the first season and really enjoyed it. I started to watch the second season today and it was jarring, to say the least.
I have only watched the 1st episode, but the characters are so unlikable, I do not plan to watch any additional episodes.

What happened to Lucy & Co???

I *think* the show was designed to have a rotating cast each season? TV and movies pay better than web shows, so it's hard to keep working actors like Shiri committed long-term. I miss Shiri & Co., but I get it. The new cast doesn't bother me in theory, and there's nothing wrong with following a different kind of character. But they botched the execution. Season 2 was TERRIBLE. Horrendous writing. S-1 pulled me in and made me want MORE, but s-2? I had to labor to push through it instead of being pulled along naturally. I couldn't make it past the Jimmy Song episode, and I really tried because I like Candice and s-1. I have no idea if Candice is versatile in terms of characters, but I think she's amazing at what she does - i.e. characters with initially superficial exteriors who are actually extremely vulnerable and endearing. She did the best she could with weak material.

It seems like everyone commenting on Hulu also were upset. People are blaming her flaky character, but I think that's a misdiagnosis. The real problem is that the show should have stuck with the old writers. Or at least found better ones instead of handing it to the first person with two X chromosomes and a persuasive agent. Season 1 = charming and engrossing. Season 2 = boring and annoying. S-2 had no concept of how to pull you into the story, the storylines had ADD, the supporting characters were a snore, I'm not even sure what Chloe DID for a living because her character was so forgettably conceived, and all of the humor flopped. The only thing it had going for it was Candice's innate charm. If people had been introduced to a new story and characters worth investing in, it would have had a better response once the initial shock of a new cast passed.

I hope the producers learned their lesson and do a third season with better writers. OK, rant over.
