The editing...

The whole movie is edited like a fast paced thriller, which at moments just didnt work (I am not talking about the action sequences). He is building his searchlight and they cut it like 3-4 times in just a few seconds, doing the same thing. The worst for me tho were those who would have been great establishing shots if they werent cutted like... 15 times :( they had the locations and the perfect lightning but no, lets mess it up. (they should have whatched alien 2.. which had an amazing build up just like its predecessor)

Agree, editing and over escalation of scope killed what could have been a really great movie.

In Homer Simpson's voice: "Mmm... Fast paste..."

Editor is eating too much paste. He should pace himself a bit.

reply

hahaha yea thats it! I am not sure if its the editors fault or the directors or even the producers...

reply

agreed. editing killed it. beyond the lazy writing.

True, tho the writing for me got really bad in the second half... the stuff before didnt disctract me that much. Everything technology related just felt thrown in there because they had the budget, I dont think they explained why they suddenly had tanks with a more advanced version of his searchlight, this quickly..

Hey, I have an idea: let's all complain about a professional job so that we can get hired instead!

Christ, people, it was a very enjoyable sci-fi-action flick, not some pretentious art-house crap.

Well the argument that still stands stronger than everything you can deny is... why didnt this become some sort of cult-hit like dredd? Just look at the rating, which continues to drop... Well i've posted one of my biggest problems with it which probably *beep* the film up the most (as some other users agreed with me on here) and on top of that you got the weak plot... which was discussed to death in other threads on here.

This has nothing to do with making this movie more Art house, I still think there is a better movie on the cutting room floor. Its sad considering the budget was really well spent, just to *beep* it up in the editing.

Well what i saw was enough, i dont need to see those skipped scenes.. esp. you should know better. Your Si-Fi list got some heavy hitters and I too like some of them very much... and those are perfect examples which do everything right in my stated critic points I so whined about. I really think its not that hard to realice that.
