Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

I'm not saying it is a copy, re-make or something like that, but the visuals are very much like FF: The Spirits Within, and the storyline is ... 😓 almost the same. Yes, I got all that from the trailer - so I'm most likely wrong, but still, can't shake that feeling. (It don't have to be a bad thing either!) Does anyone else see/feels the same? Still, when it comes to sci-fi I'm going to see it just because it's sci-fi! 😊

well FF was still an animation and this is not so i do not see the comparison at all visually, the plot maybe, but hell a lot of plots are similar to other movies. Its not like you have to go pay $25 bucks to watch it in the theater lol

I got the same feeling. This looks like it'll be a lot better, though. I saw The Spirits Within when it came out and I though it was ok. This looks really cool, however. Plus I'm a fan of Max Martini and Clayne Crawford, so..

No, the plots are completely different. Thematically similar - I'll give you that, but then it's hard to find any film nowadays that isn't similar to another in some respect.

LOL welsh! This is as HEAVILY taken from Final Fantasy just as Chronicle was HEAVILY taken from Akira!!! Original??? HELL NO!!

yeah agree, almost seems like the same film. to the point that i even wished that they had fully copied Spirits Withing plot wise. specters being aliens from another world is way cooler and story of that film was more deep than some 3rd world country weaponizing specter concept. despite the fact that uncommon state of matter idea was also very captivating. also CGI of this film was done very well. that moment particularly stuck in mind when they fired that special weapon with crazy recoil in the end

Totally in agreement, after watching the previews I had the same connection to the FF:TSW which was a movie I loved for my own reason, so made me more excited for it; however, after watching it I also had a pull to another movie "Aliens." Both movies I loved and felt they pulled everything that made them great and made this one.

Not sure if intentional or not, but regardless I'm still very happy with the product and have become of a big fan of this one.

Aliens was definitely in there, too. The vehicles, the consultant who wasn't afraid to jump in when needed.

A couple of times when they were all surrounded and it looked to be the end, I was looking for Hudson to say, "That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over! What the *beep* are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?"

Final Fantasy with the killer ghosts was there. It was a fantastic movie! I am glad I found it. The sequel will be titled, "Oh! So, that's what was meant by it went to *beep* last time this was tried."

They took the same concept (spectral entities that you can't see and kills at the touch) but made a totally different story with it.

It's a sci-fi movie. Pretty much took spirit within without the fantasy in it.

The big difference is, the story in this movie actually makes sense. I was thinking similarly while watching, but this movie doesn't actually deal with any "spirits."

did you watch the movie? lol? it was exactly FFTSW, and they say in the end, dead? no? alive? no. somewhere in between. same film. the monsters were just particle driven human mocap, less creative actually in this one 15 years later.

Yes, I did. And this one made sense. Spirits Within makes no sense. It's a visual spectacle, but a nonsensical plot.

Not the same AT ALL. These are humans who were transformed into "spirits" by science. Spirits Within are alien spirits who died when their ship crashed on Earth.

Then when we get to the respective plots the movies diverge even further. Let me know when you figure out how to analyze film.

by "science" lol. That is the lamest side stepping to floating spirits I have ever seen. and the same mechanics to see and modify their state of existence.

FF just had more artistry to their story. This one was just a lame "an electronic component kept them in their state" as an excuse. Same plot.

Space, local. Same.

Next, you'll argue that there are more than 6 plots in storytelling.

You're a little dense, ace.

They weren't actually spirits, but atomized spectrals (hence the name) operating on a wave length controlled by their central nervous system. So they weren't spirits at all. It's the equivalent of saying that UV chalk is a spirit because you can't see it with the natural eye. Same concept here, ace.

Also their atomized were being powered through particle condensation generator. Think of it as a wi-fi emitter for the atomized spectrals.
