Should have he reported Klara's kiss?

He is a very pc progressist teacher.
A little girl kisses him on the mouth and gives him a heart.
To fix this, he tries to treat her like an intelligent being and tells her how to behave.
Result: his life is destroyed.

I personally don't think he did anything wrong up to that point, it's unrealistic and unhealthy to expect teachers to report every little idiotic inappropriate thing kids do or say.
Do you think he made a mistake by not ratting on her with her parents and principal about such a little, insignificant episode?

reply

In a retro perspective? Sure.

At the moment, his best friend's daughter, whom he has known since birth, confuses her emotions towards him, and he tries to explain it to her... and leaves it at that. Seems natural to me. No need to make it a bigger deal. Her dislike of stripes tells us they are used to her oddities.

Was it just another kid at kindergarten? I think he should have.

Of course, after watching the movie, hell, yes, I would, in any case.

reply

Of course hindsight is 20/20 correct.
But in his shoes, being a bit embarrased and not wanting to break her trust, I think I would do the same.
I would never expect such a maelstorm of lies and accusations from that.
I would think "worse case, I'll say what happened. But why would they care?".

I know I would be wrong, but this society where you always have to explain yourself to people who should mind their business, really doesn't fit me.

reply

I agree

Hes been, presumably, a teacher for a long time. He should have done this if for no other reason than to cover his ass as he must have seen other teachers go down in flames from the same problem. Its not like its actually a rare occurence for male teachers.

reply

What?!?
Who goes down in flames for a little kiss?
That's all that happened here. Add that he knew the child very well, and that her father was his best friend. Why would he even imagine he needs to cover his ass? Cover from what???
He didn't even do anything, she kissed him.

This is a case of such injustice that should be taken as an example of why, in such situations, there cannot be a "he said, she said" debate. Either there's hard evidence or forget it. We cannot live in a world where we have to justify every moment and have an alibi ready in case somebody decides to accuse us.
The burden of proof is on them, not us.

reply

Not for a little kiss. For false accusation. While this mans story was horrific, its hardly unique.

Unfortunately if you are a male teacher you DO live in that kind of world.

reply

Well that's just fucked up.

reply

I don't think, though, that he had been a teacher for a long time. I remember the movie is telling us he lost his job at the time of his divorce and got this teaching job instead.
