It's the only way to be sure that none of the idiots in this movie survive. That old bag who was the head of the nursery, she can go. And the guy who put words into Klara's mouth, he was one of the worst offenders. That idiot so called best friend of his, he can go. Those morons at the supermarket, I wouldn't miss them. That annoying big dad who shoved him out of the school, I didn't like him.

There was only a couple of good characters in this movie, which was his son Marcus and his godfather. The rest of the town can burn for all I care.

I was hoping that he o his son would go on a killing spree with that hunting rifle, not one decent soul...

Yeah that would have been good. Reminds me of the Nicole Kidman movie Dogville, have you seen it? A bit of a weird movie, but a very satisfying ending.

It's easy to say this when we know the truth but people go on these witch hunts all the time. They believed the kid and so Lucas in their eyes was the worst kind of man and deserved everything he got (I don't think there was any excuse for the treatment of Fanny or Marcus though!) We've all heard stories about people having these allegations made about them and then being attacked by groups of vigilantes

And they shouldn't. That's what the justice system is for, and everyone deserves a fair trial. I believe in the principle of innocent until proven guilty. Anything less is uncivilized.

Could not agree more. I have never needed more catharsis from a film since Dogville.

Yeah, both films have characters that are anger inducing
But in a way, they don't feel artificial or like they are strictly made to piss you off
They are truly horrible people, but in a natural way
Truly smart script writing

Exactly MetalWorks... although what they did was wrong, I could completely buy that people would behave this way. We had riots in our town about 15 years ago because they found out we had a paediatrician and they got confused between that and a paedophile - not the brightest sparks, but it happens

Wow, that is something
Over here we had a case of a very well known catholic priest, who was running a public organization for the children, he was accused of child molestation in 1991...
22 years later he was found guilty, but still not processed right away
Not only that, he was using the organization to have a better life in prison, while the children were fed with expired food
Such monsters exists in our society, and are a constant inspiration for film dramas :]

Sounds like they'd have trouble walking upright. And I'm betting if they're really that dull witted, they wouldn't have had the intellect or self awareness to feel remotely bad about it after either.

Actually Theo, Klara's father seemed quite reasonable man if he would not been manipulated by his dumb wife, if he would not listen to her at all it would never been blown out of proportions like it happened.

The best - Fight Club, American Beauty & Falling Down.

So totally right. What a bunch of idiots and sheep basically. I had at least higher hopes for the girlfriend but she too at some point decided to be influenced and there went my hope of any intelligence in that town. Why he took her back I have no idea. In case it happens again..because kids are kids..you definitely won't be able to count on her. The beard guy was the only guy who was decent and of course Marcus who was awesome. We need more young people like him..at least he had some guts and common sense. Yup the rest of them need to be eliminated.

What always gets me about people and these witch hunts they start on against accused offenders have to be so emotional and nasty as if they know this person at all. I'm sick of people acting like they have a good moral judgement on their shoulders, especially when they're strangers and they don't have all the facts about the person they're judging. Everyone in that town behaved like Lucas did something terrible to them and it didn't matter to them that he got off on the charges, which shows what a twisted mind people have about justice, always jumping to conclusions on who the culprit is until they see otherwise. I least of all couldn't stand Agnes, especially when she wouldn't even listen to Klara after she admitted she was wrong because she was pissing on every good time she and Theo had shared with Lucas before and didn't want to believe he was innocent in anything to the contrary. I don't understand how people can go on hating people they don't know anything about and brushing aside any contradictions to the fact, it's like they're doing it simply because believing in a baseless accusation and hating the person accused is much more fun than getting to know him.
