Beautiful Film...

Rarely do you see a film that feels so real with such genuine performances. Everyone seemed to know their exact role and nobody stepped on each other. If I didn't see that they were actors, I would have thought this was real. Amazing film. Kudos to all involved.

As a cancer survivor myself, I thought that the reactions to the doctors diagnosis were utterly disingenuous. The first 2 minutes made me think it was a comedy. Clearly, the hype on the page is generated by those in the know. The last thing I wanted to do, when I was told I had to have chemo and radiation, at the same time, was a hug a freaking puppy! Sorry guys, do some more research....

The guy was crying and screaming at the doctor. Where was the comedy you saw?

reply

Its said the cancer was in remission. So it wasnt the first time he got the news. Also, there are some black comedy in there when the doctor immediately ask for the dog back and he said screw you and took the dog with him (which was the first inkling of his persona, a selfish man by nature).

Lets not forget this is a movie, how accurate it is shouldnt even be questioned.

Sorry but to not realize this was not a genuine documentary from the get go is ludicrous. The idea to film this type of situation regardless of the 50k is definitely interesting but not when its scripted trite. This was poorly done I thought even from the first remission scene reaction!

If you didn't notice every actor had perfect make up and hair and the camera work was clearly professional even the background music and editing to the film was too Hollywood. Why pretend to make a realistic documentary with one camera yet make it a professional work of cinematography. Also you can notice how all actors are mic'd in situations which should be natural occurrences. This really accentuates the scripted dialogue, i.e. the conversation with the hooker at the restaurant where the camera is outside and wouldn't be able to pick up the audio it does cause of the mics and you really feel the script over natural authentic conversation.

OK you took your time to prove them acting and not making a genuine documentary but to not realize they are superbly acting is ludicrous.

So far every scene in this movie refers to a real life situation yet making it entertaining. Props to the approach the movie maker took rather then making an actual documentary.
