Ooookkaaayyy

The first VHS watched with the girl in the white dress with the four guys made me forget I had a "off" button on my remote. I think I became a chicken, because when she started tearing that guy up and all that other crap, I went running out of my living thinking she was after me. I lost my man card (if I ever had one).

Honestly no "found footage" movie I have ever seen, has ever done that too me.

Hahahaha...don't feel bad. I'm pretty sure my lights went back on after that sequence ended

And that is why children shouldn't be watching horror films.

reply

This was not a movie meant to scare children. It was meant to scare ADULTS.

reply

What kind of ADULT watches a horror film and runs out of the room because they think a monster is after them????

How thrilled & proud would those directors be if they knew they had created something that scary to someone? It would probably feel like the highest compliment. Roll your eyes all you want, but it's nothing to be ashamed of. Remember how vivid everything was as a child? Most of us adults would love to experience that once in a while.

reply

I'm sure the directors would be very proud. And TBH I personally was never THAT scared, even as a child I never ran away from the TV lol. Although, I can understand A CHILD doing that. An adult doing it is seriously pathetic.

To be honest, I didn't find it that scary, either. But after you watch a movie that you hope will be scary, & find that it isn't, aren't you kinda disappointed? I don't think it has much to do with maturity, different people find different things scary, that's all. Besides, I'm pretty sure that first guy was exaggerating anyway, to tell us how much he loved being scared by that movie. (And I'm pretty sure that guy doesn't even know or care that I've been sticking up for him, anyway, so...agree to disagree? That's the ADULT thing to do... :)
By the way, have you seen the sequel? I haven't yet & so far everything I've read on here either says it sucks or it's awesome. If you're kind of hard to scare, like me, what did you think? Worth checking out, or just more of the same?

reply

TBH The only thing I really liked about the first VHS film is the first segment with the succubus. I thought the sequel was much better and more intense. None of them are "scary" though.

reply

I think the only part of the first movie that actually scared me was the segment with the aliens, when the 'ghost child' ran up behind her & slammed the door. But I almost hate to give movies credit for jump scares, because they're not really earned by anything clever or creative. I loved the succubus character too. That part was so original & the character was fascinating, even the second time around, when you knew what she was. As for the sequel, I'll check it out. Even if it isn't scary, just intense, sometimes that's just as good! Thanx!

reply

I don't know about that. When I first saw this, I was totally alone and normally, I have family around all the time. I felt terrorized by this movie when it was over. My imagination was stirring with terrifying situations.

And isn't that the mark of a great scary movie??
