I'm really surprised that noone has mentioned the obvious influence from Videodrome on The Heart, She Holler, particularly the character of Brian O'blivion.
It's pretty blatant with the whole "Video Will" thing.
Just another huge reason why I love this show.

Brian O'Blivian was the creator of 'Videodrome' in the film. The musician you're talking about I can almost guarantee took his name from the character.
Though I'm tempted to think that Videodrome took the name O'Blivion from Father Vivian O'Blivion, who makes the pancakes at St. Alfonsos (that's where I stole the margarine) according to Zappa lore.
